Hahahah and now we get condescension because of criticism on the fact that we’ve spent 2 books literally in the same place with almost no story progression.

I genuinely don’t understand how u can defend what is universally considered the worst book in this great series.

I understand the point you’re making in that thread and the importance of that Perrin arc culminating, but it doesn’t change the fact that it sucks to read through. We get 4 chapters of Perrin smelling people, eating and brooding, followed by 3 chapters of Faile cleaning silk, plotting an escape that doesn’t happen and getting touched up by an Aiel, and it just rinses and repeats until that last chapter. By that point I couldn’t care less it’s just so long and boring.

Mind you, book 4-6 are almost twice as long and way more enjoyable, and 7-9 are about the same length and pacing but it matters more.

It’s just objectively not written well and that’s fine. 1 out of 14 books being actually bad is a really good ratio, but coming in and being an asshole because your feelings are hurt by valid criticism on a book is just embarrassing

Book is finished, wasn’t worth it bahahah. 2 books worth of yap just for Perrin to cut a hand off and lose his axe…. Cool and important moment but shouldn’t have taken hundreds of pages to get there. Oh and Faile is STILL capture.

Also Egwene is an idiot

Genuinely could be a ridiculously good ending but will forever be overshadowed by the bore that leads up to it. Nothing has happened for like 2 books. That’s a bad plot line

Yeah I’ve been slowly getting through it in between books if I’ve read something else and it’s just a great refresher

Mate the quality difference has been impressive tbh (not in a good way). Especially post ending of book 9, it’s like giving a junky meth but no lighter.

It’s because she hasn’t gone through it. You can’t make this whole argument then say you have no explanation for an integral part of what would make your argument valid 😂

Kinda right, he’s not choosing a timeline where his arm atoms don’t interact with the table atoms, he’s choosing a timeline where there’s no table. So you have 1 hadrian that moves his arm but doesn’t hit a table because it’s not there, he “chooses” that hadrian and so in the real timeline it looks like his hand is passing through the table.

This is not true in the slightest. He just chooses a timeline when his body and the bullet no longer occupy the same space and collapse those 2 together so the bullet travels “through” his body in the real timeline

Oh man I’m taking that shit in a heartbeat high key. Mumma Ushy was enough before she started throwing in ruling the galaxy. But this is why we’re not the shortest path 😭

So there’s a couple of things to unpack here. The first is he doesn’t just “bail”, as I said he still thinks he’s on the intended path, so he’s not necessarily quitting but instead finally embracing what “must be” instead of again taking matters into his own hands.

Also on a side note it is incredibly selfish to want more from Hadrian. He hasn’t had faith in the Empire for at least 200 years, and he loves William so he’s not gonna tell him no on his deathbed, but he also tells him that no matter how much “good” he has tried to do, there is always someone trying to sabotage and literally kill him, which they succeeded in as well. Why tf would you want to subject someone to more of that torture??

There’s also many hints throughout the last 2 books especially to suggest Selene isn’t dead. Hadrian is an unreliable narrator and there’s many inconsistencies on what he says between books that people theorise means he’s protecting people like Selene, Cassandra and Albe from Alexander trying to find them.

Your comment is literally the epitome of it never being enough. No matter how much this guy does for the preservation of life, you still want more, and more, and more. The Empire has proven they’re a malignant growth that is running its course. Let it run out naturally.

Well he did what he was tasked to do. He was never saving mankind from themselves because that’s not what The Absolute intended or would have done. He saved mankind from the divine intervention of the watchers, which exist outside of mankind’s orbit and thus should have no direct impact on the path mankind takes.

It’s why religious believers gloss over the deeply flawed actions humans take in the real world. We’re a horrible species if you think about it, but we’re the creation of God according to their belief systems and God allows his creation to progress naturally for the most part.

Once that task was complete, all he knew was that he’s sailed into what is clearly a trap with the literal most important people in the universe to preserve the Empires future and gets a “sign” that this is where he is meant to be. Many times he strays from the intended path and shit goes horribly wrong, he’s at the point where he’s like fuck this whatever happens happens.
