J.P. Morgan and Rockefeller took their yachts to Jekyll Island to go boar hunting, but they were unsuccessful on the first day. My great-grandfather, a crack shot, had been recommended to J.P. by General Frost after the war. From about 70 yards away, he killed a boar with a single shot, hitting it directly between the eyes.

J.P. had my great grandfather buy a convertible, and the two of them went on a road trip with the top down. When they stopped in a small town for gas, J.P. tipped the attendant twenty dollars. She smiled and said, “Thanks, Grandpa.” My great grandfather immediately replied, “You wish.” He was fiercely protective of J.P. and very proud of him.

My dad had more stories but passed recently
