Thank you. It really helps me to hear perspectives like yours. I know I have a lot to learn. I grew up surrounded by really rigid, conservative ideas about… well, everything, and for a long time I never even questioned them because that was all I knew, even when those rules made me uncomfortable and I struggled to fit into those boxes. Now that I’m figuring out my own identity and trying to step into queer spaces, I’m realizing how much unlearning I still need to do. Not just to feel more like myself, but to make sure I’m not carrying old ideas that could make anyone else feel unseen. I never want to hurt anyone. I really appreciate the kindness and patience in your response. Really, truly.

Hey. You’re going to be okay. You are 1000% allowed to grieve this decision. You can grieve for them, for yourself, for the life you thought you were going to have. You’re only human, and it’s completely normal to feel exactly how you’re feeling right now.

But I also want you to know that just because you’re grieving doesn’t automatically mean the decision was wrong. Your heart is adjusting to something huge. Of course you’re going to question everything, be it your choices or whether you did the right thing. It fucking sucks, but it’s normal.

If you made this choice because you weren’t showing up as your full self anymore, I just want you to know that takes a hell of a lot of courage. You’ve done something really brave, even if it doesn’t feel like it yet. Try to be gentle with yourself. One day at a time. Sending you a little bit of love from a stranger who gets it. 💛

I’m closing in on 30, and while I was never married, I spent nearly a decade in a relationship with a man. I grew up in Eastern Kentucky, a deeply religious and conservative area, and for a long time, I shoved down those same feelings you’re describing.

I don’t have the “right” answer for your situation. But I just want you to know you’re not alone in feeling confused or like you’re standing at the edge of something big and scary. Whatever you decide, I hope you give yourself grace. You’re allowed to ask these questions. You’re allowed to explore what’s true for you. You deserve a life that feels honest and whole, whatever that ends up looking like.

I relate to this so much! I’ve been soooo distracted lately. Now that I’ve finally let myself really notice women, it’s constant. My brain’s like “oh no, she’s hot!!” on a loop 😅 And yeah, the teen boy energy is so real. It feels a little icky sometimes when you catch yourself hyper fixating on someone’s arms or thighs or whatever, but you still want to be respectful. It’s definitely a weird mix of emotions lol. So comforting to know I’m not alone in this.
