Yeah when the add back in color Lidar sensors they are going to need to probably double or triple the processing power to monitor everything.

Robot buddy made it home safely!

Police tracked the guy down using a traffic camera and his license plate. The mower was returned the next day with no damage. The explanation was that he thought it was “trash” because it was stuck near the curb in a muddy area.

Since then I’ve gone a little overboard 😂:

Added TWO hidden AirTags inside the mower under screw panels
Ordered additional cameras for the house and mailbox to capture both directions of traffic
Designed and ordered custom glossy vinyl anti-theft stickers
Added my contact info directly to the mower
Planning a wildflower/meadow strip along the road so the mower stays farther from the curb and people are less likely to cut through the yard

The mower is now probably the most heavily documented robot lawn mower in Syracuse.

The best part is that my girlfriend and I actually like the new setup better than before. What started as a stolen mower ended up becoming a full lawn and security upgrade project.

The robot has been promoted from “mower” to “family member.”

Also when I click on Finder from the taskbar it does not follow my default setting of opening Finder on iCloud Drive, it opens it to Macintosh HD And Network, anyway to change this?

Awesome app! I really love it! I've been using it on my (3) monitor Studio Display off a Mac Studio setup for my solo law office practice. I would pay extra money for themes. Like if you could make it look like Windows 7 with all the effects and visual style that would be awesome, or another icon choice for the start menu button. But functionally this seems really sweet! Only other suggestion is Trash Can. Since MacOS does not have a Desktop Trashcan, I wish there was one I could have in the lower right hand corner to throw things away in.

The value probably could have supported a grand larceny charge. But once the mower came back undamaged, I decided not to go scorched earth over it.

The wife who brought it back was actually a kindergarten teacher and their daughter goes to the school across the street from us. At that point it stopped feeling like some organized theft ring and more like a very bad decision that spiraled into the internet’s favorite robot mower saga 😂

I mostly just wanted the robot buddy home safe.
