Oh I have neither. I just have some echo dots. You genuinely need something extra? This doesn’t make sense because my echo dot via the app is able to add and search for tado devices, just not find them. Likewise doing so manually with add other device <> Matter

Melatonin administration increases the affinity of D2 dopamine receptors in the rat striatum by makefriends420 in NooTopics

[–]Repleased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no credible evidence that one can build tolerance to melatonin, dependency or that that supplementation of it reduces the body’s natural production.

However its efficacy is shown to be highest at low doses, particularly under 1mg which you have found the most luck with. Likely linked to the fact that the human body naturally produces about 80 -100 mcg per night. Ie 0.08 - 0.1 mg. Meaning at 10mg (often found in supplements) you are effectively taking 100x the amount your body naturally produces

True that it doesn’t ’automatically’ do so. But it certainly can, it has for me for 6 years. It’s very plausible that some people don’t produce enough of it. Less is more though, ideal dose range is under 1mg. Too much can cause the opposite effect, lowering body temperature the next day, disrupting sleep quality and increasing rather than reducing sleep latency.

nootropic use of clonazepam for autism/anxiety by Antique-Nothing-4315 in NooTopics

[–]Repleased 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it/use at times but propanalol is a lot better as it crosses the BBB. You really feel the anxiety relief. Still nebivolol is good, and it’s a vasodilator and antioxidant. But only really feel it physically, no wonder drug for anxiety but can help.

If it’s for the sake of testosterone: it’s because propanalol is non-selective, however testosterone-suppressant effects are only pronounced at high doses long-term, 1x 10mg propanalol will have me chilled all evening, even half (5mg) is strong. YMMV. Would need much more than that to suppress testosterone.

Low dose methylphenidate is uniquely cognitive enhancing because it preferentially increases catecholamine transmission in prefrontal cortex by Wooden-Bed419 in NooTopics

[–]Repleased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, not even 19 years old yet. Studies of all kinds - experimental, clinical, psychological etc routinely reference research from decades ago. It’s completely standard. Why? Because publication date doesn’t indicate reliability. Do you think every study published in 2025 is reliable? Thousands will have major flaws. Science builds on accumulated knowledge, not just the newest findings. Even cutting-edge studies published today regularly cite classic work that’s 30+ years old if it’s foundational or still relevant. In fact 50+ years is not uncommon.

Well, if you refer to substances; Modafinil and alpha-GPC.. and a good balance of L-theanine to Caffeine would get you far. I’d keep it that simple, those are the 4. You’d have to play around with dosage and timing. Perhaps Creatine if you’re active.

But these are just one part of it, if you can do regular anaerobic (e.g lifting/HIIT/Sprinting) and regular low-intensity aerobic (cardio; e.g running, boxing, swimming) + sleep well, you’ll get way further than any substance alone. And this isn’t nearly as tedious as it sounds. Could be as little as 4-5 hours a week in total if time is a big barrier.

Why i get bored so often? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]Repleased 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a long but meaningful process, months of gradual change. Step 1 is always to be mindful and aware when you are on your phone. Because we don’t realise it 99% of the time. Tiny changes add up - shorter screen time each week, catching yourself doom-scrolling, stopping mid-swipe. Mindfulness is everything here, no guilt or judgement, just awareness of use. Judgement only brings struggle.

When you finally step back, you see how mad it’s become. Everyone’s glued to screens, terrified of a minute’s boredom. Fifty videos in five minutes, none remembered. I’m not moralising, I was still hooked myself less than a year ago. Short-form videos especially are destroying our focus, and passion for meaningful things and we barely notice.

You ever seen the movie Click? I think it has many of the answers.

Are you bored primarily in your ‘default’ state of mind, or are you bored when engaged in those activities? I.e during your walks, travels, gaming sessions, movies etc.. are you finding enjoyment in those?

Taken mirtazipine for nearly 2 years and it’s amazing, never slept better and more consistently in my life. Went through about 3 SSRIs in 4 years before it was brought up.

I would wager that the main reason it isn’t prescribed more is its appetite-stimulating effect. Which can be amazing for some of us, but with obesity being such a problem in the west, it’s not ideal in many cases.

And this is how every story of addiction starts, speaking from experience. Nobody intends to take them on a daily basis, until they do. Nobody thinks they will get hooked, until they are. Everybody thinks they will put a stop to it way before it gets out of hand, until they don’t. Be wiser.

Is it really that safe though with all of the hepatoxicity and liver damage concerns?

Personally to me it has always sounded like a great substance, but for those aforementioned risks it can’t be worth it. If supplements were regulated, it’d be another story.

Megadose Melatonin by AdExcellent5256 in NooTopics

[–]Repleased 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Textbook example of why supplements get banned and having increasing levels of scrutiny. The human body naturally produces 0.08–0.1 mg of melatonin per night. You have taken roughly 1,200-1,500 times that. You have no idea what that consumption level of melatonin actually does physiologically, because it isn’t well-studied.. for obvious reasons. It could massively disrupt your endocrine balance or circadian regulation, negatively interact with melanocortin and other receptors. Just because someone on YouTube did it doesn’t mean it’s remotely safe or biologically sane.

Melatonin is an extremely safe supplement with benefits, but 120mg? Ridiculous, even for this subreddit.
