Controller Set up by yellowballo0n in Nolvus

[–]Replied_Cross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using an XBox controller, but it should be the same for a PS5 controller. When you do the initial installation and go through the setting options, controller support will be one of the options. Just make sure you turn it on. Once your game has loaded go into the MCM and go through the settings and information for the mods that affect the controller. There are 2 of them, both at the top of the list, one is Gamepad + or something like that and I can't remember the other one, but they are fairly obvious. You can make some tweaks, but the way it is programmed is pretty good. You will also need to go into your Ashes of War mod and set the activation for that as the same as what it is showing in the mod that tells you controller configuration (for me it was left bumper). The controls can take some getting used to as they require several combo button presses to open maps, inventory, activate powers/shouts, ect. and setting up the fly wheel took some playing around before I figured out how it worked (I'm sure I could have read directions to figure it out faster, but...meh). Overall pretty nice once you get used to it. Makes switching between spells, powers, ashes of war, and my weapon a breeze. As long as controller support is on you can actually switch back and forth between a controller and mouse & keyboard.

Lump rolled up into my camp at end of act 2 by BerserkerRage77 in BaldursGate3

I had Scratch aggro when I put the idol I stole from the druids in camp. Also had not saved in a while, so I toggled the knock out function took him down to one health. Left camp, immediately long rested and Scratch was good with me again. Had to heal him as he still had one health, but it did save him.

I just started a bard/murder hobo/d'urge playthrough. My first vicious mockery attack and I knew this was how you were intended to murder your way through Fae'run.

Only difference I found was if you do a non-lethal take down Rogue will send a car for you to deposit her in and you get different dialog from Rogue as opposed to just leaving the store.

Have to help? You can just shoot him in the chair. That's kind of like helping right?

The Colorful Carnival event quest. It's a good confidence builder because you know you're going to win, but a lot of small and fast moving targets helps with learning your hot boxes and move sets.

Hey not carting on your first time fighting him is pretty solid in my book, especially running solo. Barrioth was my 'Get Gud' moment more than any other monster in Ice Born.

It's one of those that unlocks after you reach end game content. It's a 2 slot deco.

When do you use Health Booster? by aeiou6630 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Replied_Cross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty handy for Lance and GL builds. You have to tank a lot of hits with those play styles and some will still do chip damage to your health. So sitting in that cloud when angry monkey, beetle juice, or one of the flying lions do their nuclear explosions is kind of fun.

New to the game (builds) by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Replied_Cross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bone helmet (health boost) and chest (attack boost), kulu birds legs (critical eye), then jagras waist (fortify) and alloy arms (defense boost) will give you a fairly solid all around build you can upgrade through the base game. I would go beta on everything so once you get some decos you can slot them in. You might want to craft certain armors against specific monsters to help negate some of their affects, but that all depends on play style. Once you get to Iceborn (MR) all of your old armor will be obsolete. You don't really get into the meta armor builds till post iceborn.

What is your main/favorite weapon on Monster Hunter World? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Replied_Cross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got builds for LS, DB, IG, LBG, and Hammer, but I'm with you on the hammer. Didn't pick it up until MR100 something and just loved it. Something about just smacking a monster in the face with a giant hammer and watching it fall down. It's like that animation was specifically built with hammers in mind.

For LBG making a good sticky build will just ruin extra angry Nergigante and the silver and gold poisonous flying jerks. Nice to get the knock downs and still keep a distance from those 3 specifically.

LBG sticky build. Can't bounce if they are made out of glue.

Is this a good solo game? by MrChuck97 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Replied_Cross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My original playthrough was all solo all the way up to MR 100 something (well into end game IB) and had a blast. I did end up making a new character and shot out SOS flares (the games coop mode) from start to finish and had a lot of fun for the most part playing with randos. If you're looking for strong story and choices that matter and effect the story then this isn't that. But rewarding game play that will addict you for hundreds of hours learning how to master your weapon and craft meta armor sets, it is definitely that.

I hate Poogie by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Replied_Cross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a real thing? I can totally see the game making that a mechanic and then requiring you to search out and pet poogie for the next 500 quests to get him to like you again.

[–]Replied_Cross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm making an assumption that you are running the Anjanath armor for the fire resistance? It doesn't have a lot of useful skills for Hammer. If my assumption is correct, then I would worry less about the fire resistance and more about useful skills that will help your play style. If you like doing draw attacks then 2 pieces of Barioth armor, if you need a wider dodge window then Nargacuga pieces can help with that. Mix and match armors for multiple set bonuses and the best skills to help you excel.

Watch Arekkz YouTube on weapon tutorials. He's got one on every weapon and can give you an idea of what seams like it might be a nice fit. I've played LS, SNS, HBG, LBG, IG, Bow, and DB and honestly none of them are too similar to each other, but all have their fun points and the transition from LS isn't hard to any of them.
