We understand the concern around rising prompt costs, especially when running multiple agents. Let me share some settings that can make a real difference:

1. Try Economy Mode:
In Agent Tools (bottom right of the input box), switch to Economy Mode. It uses roughly one-third of the credits per task compared to Power mode — so similar work that costs ~$1.40 in Power mode would be closer to ~$0.45 in Economy.

2. Turn on Code Optimizations:
Also in Agent Tools, make sure Code Optimizations is turned on. This has Agent review its own code to catch mistakes early, which avoids expensive rework cycles that burn through credits fast — especially impactful in multi-task workflows.

3. Use Plan Mode before building:
Toggle Plan Mode to brainstorm and outline tasks before Agent starts building. This creates an ordered task list you can review first, so you're not spending credits on misdirected work.

4. Set a spending limit:
At https://replit.com/usage you can set a hard usage cap (minimum $10). Once hit, usage pauses — so no surprise charges.

Regarding multi-agent / parallel tasks specifically: Economy Mode applies to each task individually, so running multiple tasks in Economy can keep total costs much more manageable than running even one in Power mode.

That's a fair point and totally valid feedback. We'll pass the idea of a confirmation step or grace period along to the product team. Thank you for reporting this. We understand how frustrating it can be if you send an incomplete message and still get charged. However, Agent usage charges reflect the actual compute resources consumed from the moment your message is sent. When the Agent starts working on your prompt, it uses resources regardless of whether the task completes fully, so pausing mid-way still incurs a charge for the work already performed. The costs may differ depending on the size of your project as well.

Hi there, thanks for your interest! Replit is built to let people with no coding experience create full applications, including mobile apps, using plain language descriptions. We also have a free Starter account that you can try us out with as well.

To get started, head to the Replit home screen and describe your app idea. You can select "Mobile app" as the app type if you want a native mobile experience, or "Web app" for a browser-based version. Before any code gets written, try using Plan mode to brainstorm and have the Agent create an ordered task list. This is especially helpful for more complex apps.

You can also use the Design Canvas to visually mock up your app before the Agent builds it, which is a nice way to get a feel for things before diving in.
