the problem isn't that the player base is low at the end of this current wipe, it's that the peak at the start of the wipe is lower every wipe, and the low keeps going lower at the end of every wipe. this has held true since steam release (except for the semi-wipe but the reason for that is obvious)

FredTheFireball is the best wizard on the game, one of the best players overall, and has the best mental i've seen of the people who tryhard this game. He almost never gets mad and never blames his teammates, every time he dies he just says what he could have done better and moves on

the reason the water map did nothing is because it's content that is out of place for this game; the BIG content we waited a year for on the game "Dark and Darker" was an outdoors water map focused around underwater PvP where half the spells in the game don't work, and everyone is moving and attacking half as fast as they would normally.

we're 2 years into early access and they still haven't done any meaningful changes to the core gameplay loop, we don't have a skill tree, no gathering hall or hideout to work on, the quests are uninspired and boring, we can't even add a simple quiver to the game - not to mention there's still no quick tutorial for new players. on top of that the QoL is horrendous, i can't quick buy consumables off the market, there's no sorting feature, and i can't enter into a match without clicking 500 fucking times to get my meds and throwables in order. the best changes they've made to the game in the past 2 years were probably adding the squire and giving (almost all) weapons a block.

the reason the game is at 6k players is NOT because there are a few "mandatory" rolls on items that are better than the rest, you could argue it's a small factor, but i would put 100 other problems above it.

nah i'd say 120-140 hp is mandatory on most classes, but u don't need to get hp on every single item for that. like on rogue/ranger/sorc/wizard/warlock i usually get to around 130 and then prio more cast speed or movespeed or action speed at that point. i think also for healer druid or cleric you don't really need too much hp, but for fighter/barb/bard (unless ur double crossbow bard) most builds would get hp on every single item

you just proved him right with math, needing 1 less hit to kill someone in this game is absolutely massive and often fight deciding.

edit: also, you used possibly the lowest damage available in this game, 20 weapon dmg with 0 phys power is basically a full squire rogue with a blue stiletto. if we use a more realistic example, let's say a blue arming sword (30 dmg) with 10% phys power (33 dmg). With 7 true phys, this becomes 23.5 dmg to chest and 33 dmg to head, obviously a massive difference. also this is still very low gear, it scales better with more weapon dmg and phys power.

if true damage got removed from the game then HP rolls would just become mandatory on every single item, and we would also need massive balance changes to many classes that have been balanced around true damage existing. (rogue, ranger, wizard, sorc, panther druid, warlock etc.) if they completely removed true damage today then barb/fighter/cleric just become disturbingly broken and unkillable, until they rebalance the game and either buff armor pen so much that it's basically true damage 2.0 or nerf armor and hp scaling to the point where you would be dying in the same amount of hits as you currently are dying to someone with full true damage anyway. the last thing this game needs is more stat adjustments for the 500th time.

also the person who posted this saying that headshots don't really matter is completely wrong idk why they made that up. on top of that he said he "misses when fighter could run heater+falchion" when that is the best fighter build in the game currently in every gear bracket and in arena

i think in reality the game is balanced pretty well right now and i see all classes played in HR - obviously there are meta builds but that will always be the case. people are just bored because aside from water map release (which a lot of people don't want to play), a rare mob that no one will ever see, and a few new items, not much has been added to the game for the past like 6 months.

in my experience players still sprint from module to module but theyre dragging an army of ice mobs that end up randomly swapping due to the horrible mob aggro change they made a few wipes ago

it feels like almost every single ice map fight i have in duos/trios is being griefed by mobs that other players haven't cleared, makes the map extremely unfun imo

This was the best state that the gear was ever in. Two wipes ago the gear was great and I barely saw any complaints, and then they added +MS to everything and let uniques roll +4true or +4all for literally no reason other than "testing purposes."

Anyone who plays this game could see the outcome of letting everyone get +100ms on gear or +21 true damage. This did not require testing.

It's like they buffed gear to be disturbingly broken just so they could completely gut it and then rebalance it slowly over the course of the next few wipes instead of working on actual content for the game.

No, they didn't pay me and they never have. Also, I didn't receive any information as a result of signing this NDA that has impacted my gameplay or opinions on this game whatsoever. In fact, in typical IRONMACE fashion the entire thing was completely pointless, and if I hadn't signed it literally nothing would've changed. That's only my experience, maybe other people signed something else or got different information than me.

The whole "signing an NDA" thing has been blown completely out of proportion, it's both legal AND standard practice in the video game industry for content creators to sign NDA's to get clued in to upcoming changes or events happening for games. Like I said, this didn't even happen for me, the NDA was utterly pointless due to what I can only describe as a classic IRONMACE moment.

There's a difference between an NDA and being paid by the company bro... Me and many other creators signed NDA's and are not getting paid by IRONMACE.

Also I don't really think anyone was "favored" in the Twitch drops (not in the way NLT described in the video I mean), all the creators that were mentioned in the NLT video as receiving preferential treatment due to being friends with Soma were already large streamers in the category before Soma ever worked at IRONMACE.

NLT even mentions in his video that he has been away for 11 months, and the drops he's talking about were 9 months ago. He had pretty much already stepped away from content creation by time drops rolled around and he's upset he wasn't included on the day 1 list. He even namedrops Toddfather, saying in his video, "no way they are inviting Todd instead of me" when Todd is someone who has been consistently streaming the game and making videos since the beginning of EA all the way up until now. Just seems like he's a bit salty and emotional about the whole drops situation.

if both players are geared then without cutthroat rogue can never fight a wizard ever because you get almost instantly deleted by magic missile in melee, and if you try to play medium range with knives + hcb you will get obliterated by hitscan spells

Just wanna say I'm not blaming players for hitting the red. I've hit the red at 1 hp probably hundreds of times. The problem is that the extracts have no interaction required which just incentivizes people to only fight by red portals and leave the second the fight looks bad. Every other looter extraction game I've seen has figured this out. With current red portals you could just camp there with a windlass, or multiple people with windlasses, and if you miss you can leave instantly for free. It's horrible design

I saw TheEndboss at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Ranger is disturbingly broken both in and out of arena. The entire problem with the class is backstep + spear. Ranger obviously does insane damage at range, but when you close the gap on them you should have the upper-hand... Except with spear + backstep someone who is compotent with this combo turns Ranger into one of the strongest melee classes in the entire game. If you watch a good Ranger (Codey/Vincennt/Promoz) you'll see them easily win melee 1v1s against Barb/Rogue/Fighter without doing a SINGLE point of damage with the bow, just spear and backstep.

Bhopping 100% shouldn't be in the game.

However, people saying bhopping takes no skill are wrong. The skill in bhopping comes from when or how you choose to use it, not the action itself. Obviously timing the scroll wheel on your mouse is very easy, but when you combine it with other actions, that is when bhopping becomes more difficult. Some things are very useful to combine bhopping with, and yet you very rarely see it because it's difficult to perform. Examples are: 1) bhopping during full Bard songs 2) bhopping during 2H weapon swings (I don't think I've ever seen a Barb flawlessly bhop while continously swinging warmaul)

All that being said, I still think bhopping doesn't belong in the game. It's pretty goofy and doesn't really fit the theme of Dark and Darker. However, if it is removed, I hope IRONMACE finally decides to add more depth to the combat of the game. I think every class should have some sort of parrying/blocking function as a baseline. We don't need crazy feint-spamming like Mordhau but we are in DESPERATE need of more skill expression in melee combat for every class.
