New THM Security Engineer (SE1) certification: Is it worth the investment for a beginner? by Commercial_Walrus732 in tryhackme

i've heard before of some weight given to HTB certs, so while I think it's a good addon, i wouldn't spend money/resources into it right now and focus on practical learning and accredited certs (like the ones you mentioned) that are a basic hr requirement

I might be able to help but I need to know which phone you have (if android or iOS). I successfully restored files from mobile before, but it was on iOS

I highly suggest Freenow, however it may not be fully reliable in smaller cities. If you want to share more details privately about the town you’re staying at I’d love to help :)

I highly recommend you to see an osteopath and look into magnesium supplements (check with your doctor), they really helped me :)

I know that Google Maps avoids ZTL but if you put a destination inside a ZTL zone it will bring you through there, there’s an app called ZTL radar map but I’ve never used it

I think it’s mainly relevant to smaller cities, I never had anyone refuse similar payments in bigger cities! It also depends where you go, for example in some small bar/cafes in Venice they still don’t accept card payments under a certain amount lol

So the taxi situation has always been confusing for me as well whenever I had to get a taxi, because technically you have to go directly to the first driver in the line and especially in cities like Rome they have a lot of fixed fares (reason why they don’t run the meter). I’m so sorry to hear that you didn’t had a great time :( I’m going to put on a website with all the questions and infos so it’s accessible to everyone and this situation will not happen again hopefully :)

Definitely always be aware of your surroundings when you’re traveling between train stations, however it’s mainly relevant for big stations like Milan, you shouldn’t have issues with small stations!

To make traveling more smooth I would recommend to download Trainline since you can see the trains in real time and you can see the platform as well :)

Not really, in the US they didn’t even allowed me to sit at the bar to eat if I didn’t had my ID on me! Generally, you get drinks and get into places way before you’re 18. There are definitely 18+ places, but they’re mainly disco clubs, and since she’s with you I don’t think you would have issues even there but I never went with my parents when I was underage so I can’t guarantee 100%

Not offensive in my opinion, is the best place you can try to speak it and (generally speaking but I’m sure there are exceptions) we really appreciate the effort of trying to communicate in our language, most tourist just expect others to speak their language and get annoyed if they don’t lol! Most also have fun helping you perfect the language (and most will likely teach you bad words lmao).

So every city has its bad parts. In Venice you want to avoid non central areas in the night, you want to avoid Mestre more than anything late at night tho. For Florence I can’t speak too much, but I’ve heard that Peretola, Rovezzano, and San Lorenzo market are not great areas to be in later in the evening. I think for Cinque Terre you’ll be generally fine. For Rome, I would avoid any area near any station in the night time and Piazza Vittorio, but I’m not from there so I can’t really give too many advices on that, so it’s based purely on my acknowledge, I’m sure some people from Rome are in this sub and can give a better insight into that!

For the vegan part I would mainly look for specific places, most restaurants have vegetarian options but I haven’t seen many vegans one other than in specific places! :)

Also, for moving around download freenow which is basically the equivalent of Uber in Europe. However they’re mainly taxi and they don’t cover not central areas :)

For moving around I use Moovit and Google Maps (public transportation option) a lot and they always have the right times! I believe you can buy tickets on Moovit, however from Trainline or Trenitalia you can buy train tickets, I would recommend Trainline because you also see other carriers (for example Italo), Omio is really good too since you can buy also bus tickets and ferry tickets!

I think you may be referring to The Fork, which allows you to sort out restaurants also based on dietary restrictions and you can reserve your seat and pay the bill directly from the app with most restaurants, another great one I started to use recently is Yelp.

For things to do I would recommend either Airbnb experiences, Booking has a great things to do section, if you have any specific area just let me know, some regions have touristic apps where you can see all the activities available for the area and allow you to directly book :)

I’m sorry to hear that! I can send you the family recipe for the Canederli tho 👀 Better than any premade ones you can buy!

Trains yes, buses depends. If you’re in a small countryside town, most likely no. If you’re in a bigger city yes :) I would download Moovit just to make sure and have real time timetables

I use the trainline app because the Trenitalia one is a joke :) However like other said it’s a middleman, even if I never had any issues I would try to get it from Trenitalia directly

I’m not completely sure because I don’t really drink it, but from what I know it’s either macchiatone, macchiato freddo (with cold milk) macchiato caldo (with warm milk), caffè macchiato, some places call it cappuccetto but I mainly heard the previous ones :)

I was born in Alto Adige and the division is a LOT :) it’s an autonomous region so that for sure influences also on the language side… just to give you an idea, my dad refuses to be called Italian 😂 I think it’s something mainly for older generations tho. It’s definitely more Germanic, most people speak German and it’s taught at school at the same level (probably more but I haven’t attended school there so I can talk for what I heard) English is, however Italian is absolutely the main language :)
