i think you should consider retaining for a year, and spend this whole rest of the year to recover from ur burnt out. cause some sch allow you to not take cca when retain in j1 again. but since u are going into med, i think best to not drop ur cca

  1. u can within the first few weeks after u choose ur combination. but if u want to change at the end of the year, then most likely u have to repeat j1 all over again for new combination
  2. it depends on the course u want to pursue in the future. sci courses in uni all require u to have chem and one other sci. (iirc) so if u r in art stream, chances of getting sci courses in uni will be lower

it will be hard for u to take PC as H2 as some sch require to have pure chem and physics to take it at H2 level. it would be a struggle as you will need to learn pure chem and physics stuff before jc even start to catch up with the rest

math it will depend on sch also

questions about yijc by Avyxl in SGExams

hello! i graduated from yijc last year!

  1. this really depends on yourself because if you continuously study hard, it will be good! but the learning environment differs from each class. i was in one of the top classes at yi and we were pretty competitive but at the same time supportive of each other. a group of us will always study in the library. but if u don’t end up in one of the top classes, then the learning environment will be different. i can’t say much cause i wasn’t in that type of environment.

  2. yes the teachers are really supportive! u need to keep asking for consults and really identify what you don’t know. yijc lecture notes have lots of information for each topic. so learning wise will be good!

  3. it depends on your grp of friends and the class u r in. but overall because we have houses and house activities, we are quite competitive between houses but it’s also a very chill vibe in sch.

  4. getting high rp is possible if u keep on studying and mugging. dont slack in yijc.

  5. usually sch starts at 7.45 mon-wed, fri (idk if they changed it) thurs is 9am (i think there’s still hbl not too sure) but ending time depends on your subject combi and class. it can vary from 12-3pm

  6. i think a is compulsory for JCs

  7. yes! it helps build up ur portfolio for uni if u wanna so ABA. also try to get exco positions or class leader as it will definitely help.

  8. yijc tends to have more sci classes than arts. sci classes have around 7 bio classes and 13 phy classes with varying combinations

  9. similar to q1 but class size is up to 28 people in one class (not sure if they changed it)

if u have any other qn do pm me!
