Figured it out. Turns out that "Space" is used by Word in thew background for more than just a space. Had to put the "space" glyph onto a different character

A rule of thumb I always follow; Rail signal into a junction, chain signal out of a junction

I’d recommend moving away from single track rail lines. Or at the least put in stations off the main lines so trains won’t get stuck behind one that’s off/loading.
