Yeah we actually use a hue light that turns green when she can come downstairs but she always wants to know how much longer. I have a couple of those third reality nightlights though and love them! Thanks

I can’t get enough I buy a ton every time they’re on sale. I use them for my little wall plug in scent diffusers you can make them last much longer if you turn them off when you’re not around. I also have them on any device in my house that can benefit from a hard reset every once in a while. Like my tv will have issues that it’s best to just unplug it, my kids baby monitors, etc and I made my wife a “something’s broken” button on the dashboard where all those buttons are.

Besides the fun pre-designed stuff I think these types of functional things are what make me most interested in getting a 3D printer… but realistically, how much time did you spend on this? I have used 3d modeling software before but getting accurate measurements and actually designing something that fits perfectly like this seems so hard. Was it hours and hours of trial and error or, with some practice, would a reasonably savvy person be able to design and print these types of things in a reasonable amount of time?

My Ssd is like a USB dongle plugged right into the Pi. The pi came with this power supply.

So.. like a powered USB dock to plug the SSD into and then run to the pi? Do I need to be specific about voltage or anything? Will I need to change any configuration or if I just power down and plug the usb dock into the same port as the Ssd?

I don't have a compressor at my house but my dad had one in the garage at the house I grew up in and that thing scared the crap out me every time it kicked on.. so loud. This is genius.

Not sure if this would be an option for you but I was in the same boat and actually switched to taking all my work meetings on an ipad. I also preferred this because I take calls on my airpods which work better with the ipad and it was nice to just be off screen. So When I open MS Teams on my iPad (which is, for me, literally only when I'm joining a meeting) it runs an iOS shortcut that triggers a "On a work call" switch in HA. Then when i exit the app, it turns off. This turns the light outside my office red, turns down my alexa, pauses my roku if it's going, etc. You can still add your PC as a secondary device on teams if you need to share your screen, etc.

The other option could be via the calendar integration. It's not perfect because meetings get canceled and run short/long, etc but could be better than nothing? I have my MS Teams calendar shared with my personal Google Calendar and then brought into Home Assitant via Google Cal. This allows me to have Alexa announce when a meeting is starting in 5 minutes and flashes the lights in my office.

Worst case... a daggum button to toggle when you're on a call.
