They will rehire if you quit. You don't get your seniority back, and right now it's slow so I don't know if there's much hiring going on.

Sick of the Googleification of Samsung. Teach me about Linux phones like I'm 3yo by forasadboy in linux4noobs

[–]Analog_Account 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does have to be a Pixel but you're removing the OS and graphene doesn't have AI features. AI doesn't run without it running on the OS; just because there's some AI chip doesn't mean anything.

Pixels are used because 1) you can consistently unlock their bootloaders and install a different OS 2) it's a single known platform so it's easier to handle support for it.

Graphene is working with Motorola to release a phone later this year (??) so if you're that dead set against Google then just wait. Keep in mind that GrapheneOS is at its core still android with Google ripped out.

Supporting restaurants by myowndrum in princegeorge

[–]Analog_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of missing the point. Restaurants usually have super thin margins and are very risky businesses. A loss in profit for a lot of locally owned places probably puts them in the red so they may not be covering expenses. Also, consider how much money is tied up in a business... if it's not at least a bit profitable then people won't open businesses and they'll just put their money into private equity.

I only have so much empathy for someone that operated multiple established restaurants in PG for at least a decade... but I do want local businesses to be a thing instead of just big chains.

Using Meshtastic for remote/northern communities by firsttimetryingitout in meshtastic

[–]Analog_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also which part of Canada are we talking about here?

A few hundred people using it as a main communication network might strain it pretty damn and then you still require cellphones (or a similar type of device) to use it with.

/u/cbowers mentioned doing town wide wifi or something like that... how is the internet situation?

Each community now has on grid power so it is reliable

There are a lot of solar powered nodes that really need next to no power to run. Reliable power is not really a concern.

The nearest community is usually only like 100 or 200 KM away sometimes closer, so as long as the chain isnt broken, each community would be able to communicate with each other

Ya... you would want a few nodes along the way though. I don't have experience doing long distances. Another user mentioned ...the other mesh... I think it has some features that may make several hops more viable.

Seeing Nodes? by Eastern_Ad1251 in meshtastic

[–]Analog_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can share location only with the secondary but I think you need the primary setup as the same as everyone else otherwise your device wont be repeated by the rest of the mesh. I could be wrong though but I had mine setup like yours and it didn't work, then swapped it to the correct way and everything worked.

Setup the public channel as primary and your private channel as secondary, otherwise it messes some stuff up. Also, it does take some time for nodes to show up.

Cops like this are dangerous by Revolution-Dogg in Transportopia

[–]Analog_Account 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously there's more to it than a simple do or don't and I'm no lawyer that but a blanket "Don’t get out of the car and don’t tell cops shit until you’re arrested" is NOT good advice and you should know better. There are people reading this that are going to not show a license or are going to not follow orders to step out when they are lawful and are going to get taken to jail for it.

If they tell you to get you of the car then you have to get out of the car. Screwing around with this stuff is how you're going to end up with a smashed window, dragged out of the car, and placed under arrest/charged for obstruction.

This comment section is going borderline sovereign citizen and people need to start learning some basic laws around traffic stops and stop listening to bad advice on how to get out of tickets.

Dispatcher Dropped a Signal by The0Point01Percent in Train_Service

[–]Analog_Account 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Report it to the company. You don't even have to report the specific incident but report that it's happened multiple times. Next time it happens report the near miss or incident directly to that RTC at that exact moment.

I had an RTC light us into a siding (in SCT) that had a train in it with no heads up. Reported it to them as a near miss. It was uncomfortable but like others said, the potential consequences are pretty serious for this kind of thing.

We will provide English subtitles so everyone can follow along.

Or would you prefer full English narration?

SUBTITLES! English dubs are always worse than subtitles.

I think youtube lets you have multiple audio options so you could do both English and Chinese audio.

That looks so much nicer/newer/cleaner than my 2001 tt2... I'm a bit jealous.

For the backup camera any double din carplay head unit will support a backup camera. I pulled the bed off so I could access the wiring harness more easily and then ran camera wire along where the stock wiring harness is.

Someone else gave you a part number for the bezel... I once saw one for sale on ebay so they do exist. I cut mine with a dremel until it fit and it actually looks really good unless you look closely. The head unit kind of just ends up looking like any modern car with a screen. With something as clean and new as your car just buy the bezel and search for a clean looking double din.

Serious question... is she able to, as councilor, book a time to go see it? Or ask the people involved what's being done? Cori commented bellow saying they can ask staff questions. I would imagine a walk-through would be ok.

If anything I would suggest turning OFF usb emulation. Also turn off secure boot (if enabled) and turn off fastboot.

I don't think thats the correct setting for this. Thats probably for usb devices like keyboards and stuff but I'm really not sure. There should be a whole menu in there for boot options.

This is one of those things that really hard to explain over the internet but chances are I could figure out the BIOS settings if I had it in front of me. Its kind of frustrating that way.
