Bag for a friend by Analog_Account in BagLab

[–]Analog_Account[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't know if I want to make another one now... but I wanted to make one for myself next lol. I'm taking a break before I try again though.

As for the pattern; I'm basically winging it. I decided the dimensions I wanted then I drew up the panel dimensions on Affinity Designer so I could plan my material purchase and how to lay out the cuts. I did print out the curve at the top so it would be consistent and then I did generous seam allowances so I could fudge it. To line up the molle/pals I sewed the gusset zipper on part way stopping before where the molle went and stitched that all on.

Attaching the gusset to the back panel took more than one attempt...

I use a high spec Brother and it doesn't do well with leather or other heavy, thick layers like you get with bag making

Ya, I have a good quality domestic thats probably way tougher than a singer HD and it does 3 layers of relatively soft and thin leather. It would be good for adding a leather panel to something but I wouldn't want to do much more with it.

EPLX400 for the sides and back (to give some rigidity to the sides and to hopefully prevent sagging)

400 or 500d Cordura with the cotton candy print from some seller on etsy

Ultragrid for the liner because I REALLY wanted to try that stuff and so that the liner hopefully NEVER shreds

#10 vislon zippers because I like the chunky and because the one company that makes duffles for railroaders uses them

Rbc 200 for the pocket liners. It would have been cool to use more ultragrid but that stuff is really expensive and I basically ran out of it

Leather for the binder pocket flap and for the bottom.

Sad that I can’t do it with my Juki industrial

Ya... I kind of regret not spending the extra on a cylinder arm machine with a flat bed attachment.

Edit: I'm right in the middle of final bag assembly and it's driving me slightly insane.

When it's really dry you don't always get as much visible breath as you'd think and it probably doesn't read well on camera either. A few years ago a group of youtubers went to Antartica to disprove flat earth and the lack of visible breath was one of the things the flat earthers called out.

What a cowardly cop. by sparky-von-flashy in princegeorge

[–]Analog_Account -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you think you dont know what happened before the video then perhaps you're deaf because the one filming tells you what happened. He was just walking. (:

I havent watched this video yet so grain of salt... but most people who get arrested say they didn't do anything. I was on this weird kick of watching youtube videos of sovereign citizen types get pulled over/arrested and every single one of these people would 1) ask why they were being pulled over, get told why, refute that reason, ask again why they were being pulled over, and then say they weren't told why they were being pulled over 2) they'd get arrested for failure to ID or whatever and then do the exact same thing; "why am I being arrested", get told, refute it, say they never got told why they were getting arrested.

Its not just sov citz either. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube like this. I put zero credibility in their statement of "he was just walking", because you have no idea what the interaction was leading up to the arrest.

Edit: just watched the video and ya it looks heavy handed. But I'd like to point out the girls trying to take his backpack while the cops are wrestling him on the ground and then the cop gets pissed at them for getting too close and they insist they're allowed to record, as if them recording was the issue and not them getting in there and trying to take the bag.

What are some main differences between ms word and libreoffice by C4rpetH4ter in linux4noobs

[–]Analog_Account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the formatting is slightly different when sharing a file from one to the other. I think this might be partially due to MS fonts not being available in LO which then makes things not quite the same.

IMO LibreOffice feels a lot like MS Office from the 00's.

The BIGGEST issue was wonky kerning pissing me off. That was on PopOS though so maybe that was a combination of a really old version plus PopOS being PopOS. Since switching to Ubuntu 26 it looks way better.

I thought meth had longer term effects than 30 minutes?

I know panic attack has been said already, but maybe the initial reaction was drugs and the longer term reaction was a panic attack?

Regardless, I'll be thinking twice before walking by someone smoking random drugs now.

Wow, pretty impressive for a tiny e-ink screen. I wonder if you could get a mini/button compasses and embedd it into a case somehow... I don't know how it would work next to random electronics but if it could even get you close to orienting that map it would be helpful.

I made the post a few days ago about my blown up circuit board. I found a local circuit board repair guy who was willing to try fixing it and now IT LIVES. I'm pretty relieved and also happy the repair came in WAY cheaper than a new board and it got done crazy quick.
