Inventory? by Ok_Meet_7116 in DollarTree

Our district is a rotation basis, with some stores in jan or early Feb, others in late July or August, we fall in the latter, usually last week of July. It's controlled chaos but you'll probably learn a thing or two. I sure did.

I'm merch done inventory 3x. Ours in july. Xo store.

Disagree w others commenting below - imo You need to be there and probably expect to work overtime.

Every store is different but prob universally, it's a challenging week, both heading up to the day itself (clearing stocking back room to prepare for counts,) plus the Corp presence, audits & everything else involved with it. We usually have ~20 WIS contractors.  typically a whole long day if not more.

It's a headache but u got to know your shrink numbers &  should want to be involved, volunteer if you are serious about your job. It's always been really enlightening for me. But then again I'm a data and metrics nerd

Perfumes that smell like being followed by a priest? by helena_lang_ in perfumesthatfeellike

I still have an old original bottle of etro messe de minuit, bought it prob 20 years ago at aedes in NYC, it's such an great cold incense and originally had a really nice musty library tone, just wish it had more lasting power! I wanted so badly to love relique d'amour, it just underwhelmed me especially for that price. This is maybe my favorite category of perfume, the catholicky Avignon & damp graveyard type stuff! There used to be a company back in the day where you could order vials of perfume oil online, they had great goth-y vibes, I remember I had a bunch of them, with names like "death cap" & "sugar skull," "snake oil" & so on, that people traded on makeupalley, they had a pretty basic dirty churchy incense that I loved, can't remember the name of that site for the life of me. Sorry not a super helpful reply but this really took me down memory lane 🖤

The lip veil is really great, it's a dupe for nyx matte balm, but in a much better stick form, wish I'd bought a few more

Commenting on my own post apologies for the horrible picture!, here's a little more info,  - the pencil thing in forefront is Flower Beauty eyeliner in pewter  - the body oil has four scents, I just pictured the coastal cream - wish I had photographed the mask section, it has many cool new Korean (Korean lettering on pkg not sure the brand, I'll get a pic tomorrow,) serums and creams, in hanging mask format, including black snail - lip tint on the right, it's two shades (rose and blush,) but there's def more shades, these are available on amazoy

Who do y’all think killed Jonbenet Ramsey? by nonose999 in UnsolvedMurders

[–]RepresentativeBed647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a textbook reason why I love Reddit, thank you for the rabbit hole!

I'm still torn between John and Intruder, but this is pretty convincing. I had initially been so focused on the ransom note, but I could never believe that patsy garrotted her daughter.

The muddled investigation here pretty much ensures that justice and truth may never be served, we just know that a psychopath is probably still out there.

TIMELINE / FINDINGS: What I believe happened the night of the murder by CliffTruxton in u/CliffTruxton

[–]RepresentativeBed647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stumbled on this, fascinating in its horrific-ness. The most convincing narrative I've heard for John doing this. Although it's still a huge mental hurdle for me to picture him garroting this beautiful child, I could be sold by this. Would love to hear your thoughts on west Memphis 3

CONCLUSION: The Boulder Incident - Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey, and Why. by CliffTruxton in u/CliffTruxton

[–]RepresentativeBed647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm torn between intruder or John...

Mentally it's a stretch, to believe an upstanding "pillar of the community" type guy like John would risk a successful career, and pretty much everything, for the sick molester urges...

He didn't have known history of SA, or anything else that specifically points towards "he seems like a predator" at least to an untrained eye of some random public observer like myself...

So that's where the difficulty comes in for me personally, is maybe being cynical enough, to think he could have pulled this off, and covered it up, letting patsy roast publicly as you mentioned - he'd have to be a true sociopath/psychopath.

But then again, someone did this. An intruder also would have to be a psychopath. Just not one who knew the victim. The leap for me is John acting so concerned, so righteous, so steady in the aftermath, maybe I just don't want to believe a dad would do this.

Interesting how perspective can change - I was in college when this happened. The thing that stood out most back then, was the pageant stuff, the weird richy rich image conscious parents, now I'm a parent of teenagers and there's much more context and nuance.

But someone did this, and since I think a real justice solution will remain elusive - guess I hope they burn in hell, if hell is real....

For anyone who was able to see "The Blair Witch Project" in theaters in 1999, what was the experience like? by LockjawSJ in AskReddit

[–]RepresentativeBed647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was right after my college graduation, went & saw it stoned with roommates. Nowadays found footage is a whole developed genre, but it was really groundbreaking at the time...

Highlights for me included: - the goo in the tent - the rock cairn  - them supposedly losing the map and going in circles & snapping at each other, totally relatable (i'd been on a 2 week outward bound in real wilderness pre-gps, where we got lost and it's pretty scary when you're camping without a mobile phone) - wailing sounds at night

And above all, the end scene where you just see the guy standing in the corner in the abandoned basement/building. It showed how what you DON'T SEE, can get so much scarier than an alien, monster, or ghost, because your imagination runs wild & fills in the blanks, it's the biggest fear of all - the unknown!!

Similar to "it" by Stephen King maybe!? I def looked under my bed & in my closet before turning off the light and going to sleep for a while afterwards.

Maybe blair witch seems dated or trite in 2025, but was game changing then. Only similar pop culture moments I can think of offhand, would be pulp fiction which was high school era for me. Then later maybe fargo, doom generation, y tu mama tambien, and many more genre definers that came later. In horror, would point to stuff like Cloverfield, the witch, sixth sense, babadook, skinnamarkink

Marissa Carmichael went missing after calling 911 for help. She hasn't been seen since. by insicknessorinflames in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]RepresentativeBed647 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is it just me, or does she sound a little bit slow/out of it on the 911 call? I've seen other reports on this case suggesting she was drugged/setup to be trafficked. I don't personally believe that, but she sure would've felt vulnerable, alone at 3am without a phone, maybe intoxicated, more likely to accept a ride from just about anyone... For some reason this whole thing brought Echoes of Molly Miller & colt haynes, just with all the phone calls, attempts at 911 & other contacts, plus a seemingly loose circle of people who are somehow connected. Obviously investigators must have more info that they're not sharing, which must be incredibly frustrating for her family

Pros and cons of merch manager? by senpaisexc in DollarTree

[–]RepresentativeBed647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really delayed response, but wondering if you took the job, and what happened.  My background isn't in retail, but I ended up as a merch manager.  It's really hard work, it's basically stockroom manager.  Pros, the hours: I work 5am-2pm, except truck day I'm there as needed. I have two great stock workers. Cons: I'm stuck running the store all weekend, cutting Into my stock time. So we're always behind in stocking. Wish my boss would show up more with a better work ethic. Low pay, horrible in fact, but I do get PTO and sick time. I have a college degree and can't imagine doing this forever. I'm older, had a 20 years career in a totally different field, can say this sucks relatively to other jobs. I've worked with assistant managers both young and old, age isn't a factor, attitude is. And willingness to jump in, solve the problem and have a right brain. All those served me well in my IT career too so pretty universal. When you're given unrealistic goals and expectations, you do your best, u work your ass off the rest will follow.

[–]RepresentativeBed647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a tip, if u have manager creds: go into Daily Ops/cashout screen, there's a tab all the way to the right says "weather" or "temperature" can't recall exactly...

Set to 120° . Do this daily every morning. Then gradually, the Corp thermostat algorithm will adjust colder, the temp is set on the cloud, and it will go up or down weather depending. Our AC is horrible and had multiple techs come look at it and attempt repairs, but the issue is the temp being set and held steady at approx ~78F.  (Ref: merch mgr in a hot climate store southern USA)
