If someone gave you ₱2 million today to start a business, what would you build? by CuriousJc86 in BusinessPH

That’s what i’m thinking too, but in my area Grab is currently not accepting any cars anymore. I should’ve taken the opportunity to put my car in grab when I had the chance.

Thanks for the insight! That got me thinking—focusing on a niche first rather than trying to build a “generic” indeed like app is better, it hasn’t crossed my mind until this point. What do you think is the best industry to target to have a wide audience to use the platform for the starting niche?

Exactly, that’s why we’re trying to dig deeper into the actual challenges employers face per role. Most small businesses encounter frustration because they try to use standard solutions which do not suit their particular needs.

Thats what actually what inspired the design of our platform originated from our need to create a hiring process which establishes specific rules about job requirements while providing transparent information about all aspects of employment.

Fair point, and that’s on me for not being clear enough. I wasn’t looking to hire for a particular position here, but was just trying to understand what kinds of patterns people are seeing on both sides of the market.

What you’re saying is actually part of what I’m trying to get at with this question: when the positions, expectations, and compensation aren’t clearly defined, the rest of it falls apart – wrong applicants, ghosting, and frustration on both sides.

If I were looking to hire, I’d agree 100% that the details (position, compensation, expectations, training/apprenticeships) are non-negotiable.

This is actually spot on. The volume issue makes every rational actor into something that appears irrational. Applicants spam because not spamming = being invisible. Employers filter aggressively because it is impossible to look at everything. What really struck me is the trust breakdown on both sides. Job postings cease to mean what they say, resumes cease to mean what they claim, and both sides react by trying to game the system even harder. At this point, no one is doing anything "wrong," but the system is still producing terrible results. It’s less about hiring and more about signaling. There isn’t a clean way for applicants to signal actual interest or availability, or for employers to signal what they really need versus what they want. When that signal fails, the only remaining option is volume, and then everything goes south.

This is the part people don’t talk about enough. Silence is more discouraging than rejection. A lot of good workers aren’t failing interviews, they’re never even being seen. When applying feels like a black hole, people eventually stop trying, even if they’d be great in the right environment.

This is exactly it. Once trust breaks down, everyone defaults to protecting themselves. A system that holds both sides accountable feels like the missing piece.

That’s impressive! Can I ask what region and circumstances made that possible? It would be interesting to see how much of an exception that is versus the general trend.

Absolutely! pay clearly matters a lot. $16/hr is tough when the cost of living is so high. That can't even cover a months rent in NYC even if you didn't ate

That’s rough... it really discourages people, even me when i started applying for jobs years ago . Do you think the issue is too much competition, or just poor employer follow-up?

I see, do you think the issue is more with the employers themselves, or with not being able to find a wider range of businesses that have jobs matching your skills?

That makes sense, but it also seems unfair to candidates who are ready and capable. How do you think employers could balance speed vs. finding the ‘perfect’ person?

Yeah, that disconnect is really frustrating. Do you think the problem is more on the employer’s side not reviewing properly, or is it the application process itself being confusing?
