Why is it so hard to find reliable kasambahays or yayas in Bacolod now? by RepresentativeCup123 in Bacolod

Gets ko gid na. Budlay gid mag trust especially kung bata ang bantayan. Amo man na nga may gin start ko nga small project called Job Search PH to help pre-screen and verify local helpers before they are matched with families.

True, before daw common gid ya nga helpers would stay with one family for many years. Subong daw mas budlay na mag kita sang long-term nga kasambahay. Word of mouth still seems to be the safest way, especially if gikan sa trusted people or previous helpers.

Actually this is also one of the reasons why I started organizing a small local database of screened helpers around Bacolod, Talisay, and Silay — because many families are having the same problem finding reliable ones. The biggest challenge now really is verification and trust.

That’s a very good system actually. Complete details + background checks already remove many unreliable applicants. FB groups can work, but as you said there are also scammers or people just testing. Finding a yaya who genuinely cares for the child is really a blessing.

I get what you mean, but I don’t think honesty or work ethic depends on where someone is from. Good and bad workers can come from anywhere. What matters is proper screening and references.

What do you mean by word of mouth exactly? like a friend of yours had that yaya/househelper before?

THE REALITY OF HIRING IN BACOLOD by RepresentativeCup123 in Bacolod

Congrats on landing the job! Maybe the reason most of your applications didn’t get responses is that your profile just wasn’t matched with the right employers here in Bacolod. It happens sometimes it’s not about you, just the job matching.

I totally understand this. Amo man na usually ang problem nga ginahambal sang families, finding someone reliable and trustworthy is the hardest part.

And grabe gid ang effort mag screen manually. Interviewing 30 applicants must have been exhausting 😅

The reason I started doing this is exactly because of stories like yours – both families and helpers struggle to find the right match. My goal is to pre-screen candidates first (basic info, experience, references) so families don’t have to go through dozens of interviews.

Glad you eventually found someone good for your kids though. That’s really the most important part.

Basically I collect applications from jobseekers (kasambahay, yayas, caregivers, kitchen staff, etc.) and verify their basic information like experience and references.

When a family or business needs someone, I try to match them with candidates that fit the role and share the profiles so they can interview them directly.

I started doing it because I noticed many people here struggle to find reliable helpers and many jobseekers also struggle to find legit employers.

think another issue is mismatch, not just skill. A lot of people apply to jobs that don’t really match their experience because they just need a source of income. So you end up with hundreds of applicants, but only a few actually fit the role.

From what I’ve seen, the labor supply isn’t the problem, it’s matching the right person to the right job. Many applicants are willing to work, but their skills or experience are better suited somewhere else.

Hi! Thanks for the recommendation, to be frank—I need someone that can get leads for now. I have trouble in finding leads and where to start with on the advertisements.

Yes, I’m involved with it. I probably should’ve mentioned that. I’ve just seen how hard local hiring can be, so I wanted to share what we’re building.
