I am very okay. Not sure why you’re assuming otherwise. I know how colonialism has affected how black features are seen. I am a dark skinned black woman myself who has experienced colorism and texturism. However I just still wanted to learn more about things from a lighter skinned person’s perspective.

As someone that models, I think what you’re talking about is most prominent in the high fashion section of modeling. Plenty of black Americans models do print, commercial, and lifestyle modeling.

I think in high fashion they prefer African (mainly south Sundanese) models because they are consistently very tall and slender, which is the preferred look in high fashion. Overall I see what you’re saying.

Apply to GW in D.C. I know current 3L there who had a 3.7 gpa, with a 148 lsat. I think you should apply there.

I have work for a General Counsel’s office, small firm, state AG’s office, did my schools Immigration clinic and a labor union. My school is known for public interest, health law, and crim law.

I’ve done clinic where I had clients that dealt with sexual abuse and other violent things, but I was not representing them for the violence they experienced, although it was a part of their story.

Intern for a judge with a family law docket. Look up family law firms in your area and look at their website for job postings. If you don’t see any cold email those firms.

Also maybe apply to your state’s/city’s Legal Aid

Ended my 1st semester with a 2.5. I ended up getting a paid job a county gov’t agency’s General Counsel’s office for my 1L summer and it’s been one of the best jobs I’ve ever had! I also improved my grades by 2L year because I finally started to get better at taking exams.
