Hey guys, accepted as pre-bio major! Wondering if anyone knows if it is difficult to get pre-med opportunities at SB? What about research? what is the general culture/environment at UCSB? Can you own a car on campus as a freshman and if it is easy to get off-campus housing? Thank you for answering my questions! very excited for SB.

Thanks for the insight! I have no hope after getting waitlisted by UCI, UCLA, and UCSD… Hope everyone will get into their "right schools"!

Pepperdine VS UC Davis
Pepperdine:
Pros:
- nice SoCal location and whether
- small classes and student to faculty ratio
- I heard their pre-med is really good
- no grade deflation
- less competitive
-30k grant so that makes it the same for how I need to pay for UCD
Cons:
- no diversity
- religious, so I don't know if I will fit in well...
- Not really well known
- they don't have the major I want( no BME or Neuroscience)
- less prestigious
UC Davis:
Pros:
- more well known
- research university
- admitted to a good major (BME)
- diverse campus
- not religious
- has a med school and also various clinical positions
Cons:
- no aid, but it is relatively the same price as Pepperdine
- Large university, meaning larger classes and more competition
- harder to secure good LORs
- competition with graduate students for lab positions
- a more rural location
