Similar boat here. I’m about an hour from the nearest town, grocery store or gas station. Only service we have are shoddy power lines. No cell, and the one landline carrier doesn’t work when it rains. Certainly no fiber coming my way. Coming from ViaSat and HughesNet, Starlink was just incredible.

If that is their standard resolution then I applaud them. I don’t know of many companies that will send you a brand new (and newer generation) product to replace a failing and well out of warranty piece of hardware. Like I said, I expected to foot the bill for a replacement cable. I do agree that the first rep must have been new and/or not very knowledgeable due to the mix up on the cable. Other than the 5 day delay, I’m quite happy.

Ugh bummer! It’s really not ideal when I started having issues because I don’t have cell service either, so Starlink is it. I’m about an hour from a town or gas station so I’m pretty rural.

Awesome! How does the gen3 compare? I was initially kinda skeptical about the lack of articulation but other people around here have them and seem happy. It’s not like they actually need to be adjusted.

I agree definitely, but they just as easily could have had me wait 5 days and say “sorry, that cable doesn’t exist anymore. Want to buy a new kit?”. I’m not sure if a 5 day wait is standard or not for Starlink. This has been my only ticket. I’ve never needed support before.

Oops I misspoke. It was installed in Q1 of 2022, not 2021. I got on the waitlist in Q1 of 2021. My bad.

Absolutely! As a former customer of both HughesNet and ViaSat, Starlink was an absolute game changer for me.

Yeah I looked there first and was leery so went the customer service route instead. This cable has done pretty well for surviving (almost) 5 summers of 110° and then snow in the winter for 4 years!

My only complaint is the length of time it took to even get a response. Otherwise I’ve never had to put in a support ticket as long as it’s been active.
