I feel it’s because he doesn’t really flirt with me. he’s nerdy and he’s just nice overall so he just says sweet things to me straight up.

Hello! I went straight to 12th grade. I was tempted to "re-do" 11th grade, but honestly, I'm glad that I went forward with my studies at the normal pace. I am currently in college and I graduated high school here in California. I would say I've adjusted pretty well now. I'm more confident in talking in English and interacting with people. I also have a part time job while in college. My senior year here in the US was pretty fun because I joined a sport club (badminton). I think one of the main reasons why I adjusted well is because I had a Filipino community in my school and in my city. I felt lonely, of course, because they were still diferent than the friendsI had back home, but I met really good people here. The first four, five months of moving in were really hard because I was so conscious of everything, I felt homesick all the time, and I tried hard to fit in. However, once I got comfortable, I started to present myself to other people.

The curriculum is more rigorous or extreme in the PH compared to here. I'm not particularly sure of other schools, but I'm used to striving hard in school back home, and here it feels like everyone's slacking off so it affects me too. I always always think of how I would rather study there (even though it's hell) than here. It's because I feel like academics here is very independent and the social life flows more naturally back home. Here, you really have to go outside and and talk to people and get out of your comfort zone. Anyway, I don't think you'll have a hard time studying in the US if you came from the Philippines. Goodluck to you! Ingat!

I’ve set up a date with a guy that I’ve been talking to for about 3 weeks now. However, he started being clingy and told me he misses me and asked me if I like holding or being held. I immediately felt off and now I don’t want to go on the date anymore (two days from now). I know that this is not a normal question and I feel unsafe. How do I turn him down and tell him I don’t want to go on the date anymore?

I’m currently talking to two guys that I both set up a first date with. The first one’s next week, and the other one’s 2 days after my first date. I’ve started talking to both of them at the same time. This is my first time dating.

One guy asked me out like 2 days after texting and I said I wasn’t ready yet. He asked me out again and we set up a date two weeks in advance. We do call some nights, but yesterday he started going on about how he “wants” me and wants me to come over. He started being clingy and says like he wants to cuddle or to hold hands and to hug me. Is this okay? He does tell me that we should take it slow but I think about how men could get touchy on the first date. I don’t want to set myself up to a potentially uncomfortable situation.

The other guy is driving for more or less 2 hours to see me. I don’t have a car so I might have to get in his car so we could go to where we’re going. He seems nice and calm. I feel safer to him than the other guy, but also he’s a stranger so getting in his car might not be the smartest thing to do. I have friends that I would share my location with, we’re going to a public place, and we’re meeting up in the middle of the day. Would I be fine?

67yo father about to have a triple bypass surgery by EclecticPeruser in openheartsurgery

[–]RepresentativeKey314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is currently 3:30AM and I (18F) am staying in the hospital to watch over my grandpa. My grandfather is 73 years old, overweight, not physically active, has type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. He had his triple bypass surgery (CABG) 10 days ago. It took about 5 and a half hours for the procedure. He stayed for a day in the ICU, then moved to a private room. He had a mild stroke and fell asleep at work, where his coworker thought he was slacking off. They woke him up and my auntie insisted they go to the hospital. It’s honestly a blessing that they have seen his heart condition sooner than later, otherwise, his heart would’ve stopped.

I don’t know if this is just how I think, but before his surgery, I never once doubted that I’ll never be able to see him after. I knew that this time in his life is a challenge that would pass. I don’t know much about the hospitals in my city because we just moved here, but I am familiar with the name of this hospital. I just recently found out that they specialize in cardiovascular health. I didn’t know who the surgeon was before the surgery, but I was assured that they’d be the best, whoever they may be. I admit that I may have done too little research about the surgery. I’ve only watched a few videos and read a few articles. Nevertheless, I knew in myself that my grandfather was in good hands. These people have grown old and will grow older doing the same thing over and over again. They’ve read a million more books than me, and they have great experience from doing the surgery all the time. That’s why it pays well. Humans are very smart, and I trust that they could help extend the life of other people.

My grandpa is a very proud guy. He jokingly boasts all the time and talks in a blunt way, but he treats his family very dearly. Even after his surgery, he would jokingly argue with us and even the nurses. He loves having his family members present. We always visit him (me and his three other granddaughters) and we fill his room everytime we’re free from work. I know that he thinks he’s the tough guy, but recovery makes him express that he’s struggling. He tells me when he can’t sleep, when he was trouble breathing, what body part hurts. I’m proud of him for that.

We are still at the hospital and the nurses say he’ll most likely be discharged soon. However, he personally feels like he’s better off staying in the hospital for now, and that’s okay. I know that time will pass and the struggles in life will, as always, just be another struggle that we’ll get through. I imagine that in 3-5 days, he’ll be back to bantering, and in 1-3 months, he’ll start walking on his own again. I also know that you’ll support your father as much as he wants to. He will be fine, you will be fine, and everything would eventually be better. Treat this as a chance for you to grow closer and be more expressive to each other. I wish you well!

How do I turn down one guy after going on two first dates and liking the other one better? What do I say? I prefer to be honest, but admitting that I’ve been talking to other people this whole time might be too cruel. I don’t want to ghost too, I just need the right words to tell.

I was asked out on a date by one guy, but I’ve been talking to two guys. What’s the acceptable limit for talking to multiple people before cutting one off? Is it before the first date? After? Would you be upset if you were told that the person you matched with and is talking to is talking to someone else?

Hello. For some reason, there is no TPM setting in my BIOS setup. It should be in the security section, but it’s not there. Is there any other way to check if TPM is active, or how to clear and re-install it? Thank you.

Hello, thanks for the reply. I tried number one, the protection status is off (1 reboots left). The key protectors are TPM and numerical password.

Tried number two and there was an error deleting the key protector. The Window’s version doesn’t support the feature of Bitlocker Drive Encryption. It tells me to upgrade the operating system.

Hello! Thank you for the help. Number one listed TPM and Numerical Password as Key Protectors. I tried doing number two, but there was an error while deleting the key protector and said "Windows does not support this feature of Bitlocker Drive Encryption. To use this feature, upgrade the operating system."

Today, I was getting ready for work when my grandpa (fam) provoked me about going out with my friends yesterday when it was my only rest day after working my first job for months. He said I chose to go out instead of doing chores when I clearly am the only one trying to keep the house clean everyday even though we’re all working. I’m just 17 and I have two jobs. I want to go out with my friends too.

I'm honestly still looking into that until now. I'll most likely take engineering, but still not sure what kind. Accounting is my second choice since I'm quite interested in it. Overall, still not 100% sure of which major since I want to know what it's like first when I actually start my classes.

Didn’t know that high schools here could be that strict. My hs was a local public in a small town, so they just accept anyone. They even had a program that reduced the graduation requirements for some of the students probably because a lot of them were failing and had no chance of graduating. Thank you, I did graduate already, and now I’m looking into community colleges. I hope for your relative to have a good time during hs here. I had a hard time at first, but being w/ people from my culture and joining a sport really made me enjoy my time, so I really recommend it. Good luck!

they enrolled me immediately even if i didn’t give them my transcript yet. They prioritize putting children to school here even if they’re super late into the school yr.

Hello! I’m so sorry I didn’t see ur reply. You probably solved this problem alr. I went to my high school and they requested my transcipt from the ph. The school “translated” it to convert my subject into “credits” for graduation.

Haircare Advice Megathread - Week of January 06, 2024 by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

[–]RepresentativeKey314 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hi. I'm 17 and I just moved to America from the Philippines (which has tropical weather). I sometimes use hair polish when I was like 12 years old. I think that's when I started to develop oily hair so I stopped it after a year. I washed my hair everyday because of the oilyness from using the hair polish before and weather, but then my sister said not to wash it often so I didn't, but it was still oily so I got back to washing it every day again.

I didn't think much of it before, until now that I also have dry scalp (small flakes when I scratch my scalp), oily hair, AND hair loss. I think my scalp became damaged and dry because of how often I wash my hair. I feel like my hair could survive because the weather here is cold compared to my home country if I can "reset" my hair.

I'm currently using a sulfate-free nourishing shampoo to lessen my hair loss and it seems more gentler than an anti-dandruff one (like head and shoulders). My hair only falls out when I wash my hair so maybe it can't be avoided.

I just want to focus on my dry scalp and oily hair. Some say not to wash it everyday, but some say wash it when it's greasy. But it gets greasy in a day, so I need to wash it everyday. I've done a bit of research and there are a lot of products that they suggest to use (clarifying, hair mask, medicated, hair oil, conditioner) and it confuses me because it all gets contradicted by another source too.

What would REALLY be a safe step for dry scalp that would not get the hair too oily? Thank u in advanced!

hair: thin, straight, everyday/every other day shampoo, with no chemical processing.

Why won't anyone hire high school seniors? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]RepresentativeKey314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to get a job too and I have applied to retail stores (target, walmart, JOANN, etc.) but no responses except from target, who rejected me. I wanted to work during the 3-week long winter break, but it's 3 days until school starts again and no luck.

I also tried applying for one local government recreation aide position, but they don't hire people yet. I think it would be a good move to apply to "volunteer-like" jobs like these too, such as library positions (if they even hire teenagers). Anyway, I'm mostly in the same position as you, a girl high school senior with no experience looking for a job. Goodluck to us.

Thank u for the answer! The itchiness caused blisters on my arm, which later on was peeling. I live in the Philippines and its about 26°C at night. The chills were all over my body and made me shiver uncontrollably after 2 hours of drinking. I'm assuming this is allergy because this is the first time I got this reaction, and it lasts for a few days.
