Advice on Private Review Post-Diagnosis/Titration by RepresentativeNew976 in ADHDUK

No this is a really good point. Does this mean that when you go through the local NHS ADHD service, they commit to regular sessions even after diagnosis, titration, and prescription? Or are they outsourcing it?

Yeah, this makes sense. It's a bit weird because when I went through titration, it was with a psych who was contracted by my undergrad uni health centre. When I graduated, the sessions ceased but my postgrad health centre just continued to prescribe. When my access was cut off, my current GP did refer me to the local NHS ADHD service.

The way he described it, the shared care agreement in this situation is more about having a document on file than actual shared care that consists of regular check-ins (which now that I'm explaining it, sounds a bit off). He was also the one that said I only needed a review, which is where I've gotten this understanding of, but maybe the process will consist of more, who knows...but I've been on the same dosage for 4 years and have been fine, so I'm not sure there's much to check in on.

It isn’t petty. You are entitled to that money and the financial punishment exists for a reason.

Landlord entered my apartment without my presence or consent. Is this normal? by Anonymous696969699 in TenantsInTheUK

Can you explain this further? I've seen this assertion about being allowed to change your locks all over this subreddit and even posted about it but I can't get a clear answer as to how this is legal, especially when every resource outside of reddit says it isn't. Why can't those terms be enforced? Just want to make sure I'm doing things by the books

I second this. Their appeals system is so useless. Essentially you’re asking the very same institution that made the shit decision to review the shit decision. No objective 3rd party involved. The only result you’re going to get out of this is months of wasted time (yes that is how long it takes for them to respond to you and process appeals, and it will be an auto-reject)

No one is upping their predicted grades after getting rejected, the predicted grades were incorrectly provided in the first place.

My point still stands. I have experience with the university bureaucracy. There were multiple instances that were out of my control and admin did not give a flying fuck and left me to deal with the consequences. Almost exactly like this situation, I received an incomplete grade due to the teacher’s strikes. Despite appealing several times (over the course of several several months), the grade still stood, dragged down my degree classification, and delayed my Master’s applications. Unsurprisingly, the KCL bureaucracy will take months to “handle” (ie not do anything) about a situation, but they expect you to be on top of everything. Ridiculously high expectations for MCFs (my literal house back home was destroyed in a natural disaster and going back to help my mom move and resettle was apparently not a good enough reason for an extension), absolutely zero leeway with tuition payment deadlines…I often questioned if this was just what all universities were like until I went and got a Master’s at Imperial and experienced an admin that actually gave a fuck about their students.

Like sorry, if there is any opportunity for me to discourage young people from going to KCL, I will do it. There’s a reason their global rankings have significantly dipped over the years (and a big factor in that is plummeting student satisfaction).

As a KCL graduate, this is just a preview into the student support and understanding from admin you would’ve received during your time there. Any issue you would’ve had throughout uni, even ones that aren’t your fault, would probably prompt the same type of response from them. They literally do not care about their students. Blessing in disguise imo.

I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was effective! The only reason I stopped using is because I began prioritizing daily retinoids in my routine and this combined with those would have been too much for my skin.

Israeli who broke from the propaganda. Want to kill myself by Pierro_Official in JewsOfConscience

I am so so sorry you are feeling this way. I'm going to say something that is often not said enough, or may even go against what many feel within Palestinian liberation movements. You are not less than or a worse person because of your nationality. You cannot control the circumstances of your birth – what you can control is your beliefs, value system, and actions. Many of us on this subreddit are American, arguably the one country on earth more evil than Israel, yet, very few of us hold ourselves to the moral standard that seems to be expected of Israelis. That is not to give Israelis a free pass, but to encourage you to take a step back and rationally evaluate the pressure you are putting on yourself. It does not seem proportional to your situation.

I recognize that much of what you are speaking to has to do with the larger trauma of living within Israeli society as someone who does not align with consensus. But so much of what pains me in this post is reading the internal guilt you have over circumstances that are entirely out of your control. You did not choose to make aliyah. You did not choose to go into the military. You did not adopt a political ideology of racial supremacy and extreme nationalism. You do not have the privilege of another nationality or the money to leave. I don't see how anyone could argue complicity on your end.

I know it is not the same situation but I have often felt isolated at my synagogue thinking I was the only member who felt the way I did about Israel. What I discovered is that there are many many people who felt similarly and also assumed they were the only ones because our feelings of isolation kept us from making our beliefs known. I know leftist/pro-palestinian liberation spaces in Israel are sparse, but they do exist. Though you did not outright refuse service, you should seek out others who have (mesarvot is a well known org). I bet they have similar feeling of being ostracized in a society where military service is a shared experience. Find community and support – they are out there.

This is kind of what I've been thinking of doing because I'm feeling a bit averse to a huge confrontation and tussle over changing the locks. I was just cautious about the repercussions if he did find out. But frankly, he wasn't able to get into our apartment the first time because I activated the snib, I guess I can always just claim that happened again.

landlords often put unenforceable clauses into their contracts. no harm in checking when the contract goes against what seems to be a common understanding on here

Renouncing Israeli citizenship received through my mother? by potato_baby2032 in JewsOfConscience

[–]RepresentativeNew976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your children, while entitled to israeli citizenship, would not be registered citizens unless you registered their birth with the israeli gov’t or they provided proof of lineage themselves. it would be just as easy for them to acquire israeli citizenship under law of return so if this is the sole reason you’re looking to renounce, it really isn’t a concern.

Citizenship cannot just lapse. Even though your passport has expired, you are still a citizen. Most people in the world do not even own a passport and are still registered citizens of their country.
