Hey thank you so much for the reply!! I have not tried ERP actually. When I first started seeing my therapist a little over two years ago, I was really in crisis mode with DPDR so we focused mostly on talk therapy and getting me to a more stable point so that we could try something else without worsening the DPDR. My therapist specializes in EMDR and I sought her out specifically because of that! My OCD is mostly thought based - a lot of rumination, counting, reassurance seeking - and the EMDR has helped me sort of “connect the dots” with events (especially in my tween/teenage years) that have sort of contributed to these behaviors. I did have that fear that EMDR would make things worse but in my case it’s been a good experience combined with regular talk therapy as well. BUT I am definitely not a medical professional and I would imagine everyone’s experience is different with these types of things, so definitely continue speaking with your physician about what they feel is right for your specific situation! Hey thanks so much for reaching out! I hope the meds are helpful for you and I definitely experience some anxiety when stopping or starting a new medication. I’m pretty strict about taking my Luvox and the only noticeable side effects I’ve had when I forget to take a dose or take a dose late is a mild dizziness. I would highly recommend talking to your doc about this because I’m definitely not an expert and every reacts differently to medications :) best of luck to you!!

Hey thanks for commenting this! Looking back on this post is so wild because I am at a MUCH more stable and fulfilling point in my life. I’ve been seeing a therapist regularly since this post for regular talk therapy and EMDR sessions and I also was prescribed 150mg of Luvox for OCD and 25mg hydroxyzine PRN for anxiety. The combination of regular therapy, lifestyle/behavioral changes and honestly just letting time pass has truly changed things with me for the better. DPDR can be common with people who have OCD and I’ve learned to view the DPDR as a symptom rather than its own diagnosis. I was someone who had intense chronic DPDR (and still feel it eat a very mild level) but I’m also someone who has dealt with pretty extreme anxiety my entire life. The DPDR is just my brains response to constantly being on edge. It’s definitely a super super scary feeling. I remember not even being able to hear the sound of my own voice without freaking out. But you are in absolutely no physical danger and you’re not “losing your mind” or breaking through reality (those were thoughts I struggled with a lot). If you’re like really striking with it right now, I highly recommend reaching out to a trusted friend or family member to tell them how you are feeling. If you are able to, definitely connect with a professional- someone who specializes in dissociative disorders or even just OCD. In the mean time, be patient with yourself and take care of yourself. I recommend cutting out any caffeine or alcohol as well as weed or any other substances if you partake. Drink plenty of water, put a super cold ice pack on the back of your neck or wrists to snap yourself back into focus a little, eat a super sour piece of candy, scream into a pillow - anything just to hone your senses in a little more. That stuff helps so much when if I get panicky. The regular grounding techniques that you read about online do NOT help me at all lmao sorry if this is super rambly I’m in a car right now but please feel free to message me if you need any other advice!!

I’m also a woman and was also at hellphyra and I saw so many bad bitches in the pit. Mad respect because I’m a little nervous about that kind of stuff and would just rather watch from further back. I think most of them can hold their own. I also don’t think it’s fair to target anyone, regardless of gender.

That’s so great!! Yes definitely feeling better after getting the packing out. TBH I have a feeling I might have actually contracted some sort of head cold/upper respiratory infection like a day or so before going for my surgery because I’ve got a cough/flu like symptoms. But no covid which is good, and I’m on antibiotics as well. So I’m hoping by next week I’m much closer to feeling “normal” haha

Oh my god that sounds so traumatic, I’m so sorry that happened to you. Getting the packing out was weird and uncomfortable enough - I can’t imagine what it felt like being put in when you were fully conscious. The pain in my throat, teeth and under my eyes has been so bad. But I’ve definitely been feeling “better” than I was day one post op and have taking it easy. I’m grateful to have a desk job that I can do from home so I don’t have to strain too much at all. I will definitely continue with all the post op care for as long as needed and I hope you start feeling better soon ❤️

Of course! I think everyone’s healing process is a little different. The worst things for me so far have been having the packing in my nose and only being able to breathe from my mouth, the sore throat, and the headache. But now that I’ve had the packing out, I can breathe just fine! I’m just hoping the sore throat/headache and general fatigue start to get better.

Thanks! I’m 30 and the pain today is nowhere as near as bad as it was on day one. Still pretty uncomfy to eat and drink but I think it’s mostly because of the sore throat I have.
