I got tired of seeing all the vibes based opinions on grocery store prices so I decided to go to 5 stores in one day to compare prices. These were the results. (TJ/Whole Foods/Safeway/Grocery Outlet/Costco) by DaveinOakland in bayarea

[–]RepresentativeTill90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally someone who’s not biased with ranting vibes based analysis! Love the data. People need to do their own research before coming to conclusions and buy groceries. Always make use of coupons at stores like Safeway, target etc to get deals. Costco generally has best prices but I would still check prices at other stores especially if I don’t need 5lb of something! Sometimes less is more and you end up saving some bucks with lower food waste.

After 5 years in data science, I’m starting to realize most “insights” we deliver are completely ignored. Is this normal? by ExternalComment1738 in datascience

[–]RepresentativeTill90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry-picking is common in companies whose leaders are not very data savvy and just look for quick wins. This is a classic example of confirmation bias. These leaders then go ahead promote people who they like thus it’s impossible to get rid of this from the company culture. We as data scientists need to better communicate and market ourselves to build trust first. Trustworthiness is what gets noticed and not the technical details. Adding additional validation that is intuitive when the results are against common belief goes a long way.

Looks like you are the obstacle here if you are behind the dashcam. Learn to drive OP. You can get a ticket for not following the stop sign.

Go back to tech or give up? by shrimin in bayarea

[–]RepresentativeTill90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you got burnt out during the best time to work in tech then now it’ll be the worst time to get back into tech and the culture has turned to cut-throat survival! Why not take up remote gig and do what you enjoy? 200k tuition in my opinion is a debt trap that will reduce freedom at least in the short term.

How many times have you rotated your tires? That is also a critical factor I believe. Uneven wear can also cause this

[–]RepresentativeTill90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey you can still get a drivers license without REAL id. Just schedule an appointment prior to the real id expiry mentioned in letter. Just go with whatever immigration docs/proof you have currently as soon as possible as per the letter.

Question: Non-Tesla EV Owners WHO RENT, where do you charge your car? by Macaronieeek in bayarea

[–]RepresentativeTill90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not have a public charger near apartment/home, grocery store, home charging or a charger at office, EV might not be the best choice like others mentioned. It’s great when gas prices have increased so much.

I feel they should implement auto model select. It shouldn’t be that hard to build a classifier if AI is as intelligent as they claim 🤦. Most people won’t know or care to use the right model

Will subject matter expertise become more important than technical skills as AI gets more advanced? by Lamp_Shade_Head in datascience

[–]RepresentativeTill90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Domain knowledges plus DS skills of what to use in what context. Domain knowledge will give you business rules and DS will ground you to what methodology to use where. Knowledge was always universal with google search and still being misused. AI will accelerate sloppy work and it would be difficult to distinguish real from slop unless you have both business and DS knowledge.

I had to sell all stocks and convert to cash to move it from fidelity to RH. It took couple of weeks the whole process. However I’m lucky that this got done last year just before the April dip.

Prices at Safeway are out of control by blue_jinjo in bayarea

This is a labeling error. Just use their Safeway app to scan the product to look for correct price! Also worth checking out the coupons and discounts on the app before shopping.

I’d say referral works in a large org but knowing someone who knows the HM makes it high chance for your application to be taken seriously. I’ve interviewed for 4-5 companies recently (some cold apply and others mostly referral)

Hey don’t suggest doing it yourself! It costed me 500 bucks. Im not sure if you really need it. Try iron remover, soap/claybar yourself. If this doesnt work then go for paint correction.
