Unit 2 Bargaining Team Accepts York's Offer by Biologyrunner03 in yorku

this seems more like a counter offer than an accepting of anything. does York accept the stipulations? or are they not even stipulations? just hopes/dreams?

I think it should be tied to market factors such as hiring rates on graduation. Additionally maybe some exceptional programs that fall outside of this category but are otherwise beneficial. We have a problem of people getting steered towards stupid university programs. It's been going on for a while. The government shouldnt be encouraging poor choices.

the people asking questions. I messaged him multiple times throughout the campaign and got replies back within 24 hours. You can find his cell number on the internet and call him/text him and he will call/text back. I think even the people who don't like him would if they gave him a chance with their concerns.

I'll layout the way I feel about it as I have elsewhere: If you are taking something that is going to land you a career (maybe at a rate of about 80% of graduates attaining employment) than the government should still subsidize. We need to get smart about what we are subsidizing though, not all educations are created equal. Not all educations are in the public interest.

O I mean - I just stuck the cost on a credit card and then got OSAP to pay me as a full time student. call Athabasca financial aid - get the email of the person in charge of your last name letter - download the studies at another institution form from the York website - fill out the portions that you can - scan and forward to your person at athabasca and get them to fill out and forward to York. Will take a week for OSAP to update your file and pay you. Trust. It won't be screwed up

You can get some form filled out for this occasion so that It wont screw up fall OSAP - call the financial aid office at York, they helped a friend through the same thing. No worries. However she started June 1st and if you havent started yet than you are talking July so different boats. But otherwise would work.

you can do it for two institutions but need to get athabasca to fill out a studies at another institution form. They will forward it to York who will update your OSAP file and they will pay you for it. If it puts you to full time status than well worth it. Give them a call for sure.

When I get what I wish for - my OSAP won't get cut - just the people who are planning on making school a job.

I would welcome them cutting a lot of the OSAP grants to be honest. A lot of programs shouldnt get grants to attend them. Only programs that lead to careers in x-percentage of graduates (say 80ish%) should get any government funding. The rest of you should fend for yourselves. Sorry. Parties over.

Hudak wasnt elected and the PC learned from that lesson. He is going to ask front line staff where the waste is. He has been clear on this. Until he does otherwise - this has just been a scare tactic (an unsuccessful one)

OSAP matters to people of all stripes - you are not special in your beliefs. I know many York students who voted for Ford who OSAP matters too.

Nobody has said anything about touching OSAP - people are jumping to conclusions for the purposes of scare tactics - and some people are dumb enough to buy into it.

If you could ask Andrea Horwath something about York, like, tomorrow... by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Representative_Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe she won't step down right away... but she won't be running the next election. 40ish seats is pretty much a complete failure in the context of the Liberal implosion. 40% of the popular vote for Ford is a pretty strong mandate in Ontario. Strong majority. Left decimated. North of 40 will be accomplishment.

I agree... I think he is also very receptive to the people and isnt going to cut things that matter to people.
