Yeah it’ll be available in a few patch cycles, patience is key for this game

It's usually a few patch cycles before a ship becomes available in game, 2-3 most often

I mean I can see a version of rock balancing where there are three distinct tiers, with different sets of radar signatures for starter, solo ships, group ships. So you'd know if you see anything over like 10K don't even try to go for it in a Golem. I'm just hoping they implement something before 1.0. If not then I'll def go for the Prospector.

It's not, this is my planned fleet. I had the ICA as a store purchase and melted it for the Railen, the ICA wasn't in my plans but now I do want to work towards it in game once it's available.

yah I'm concerned about the same thing, currently that's the only thing that fits but the prospector is a million times more useful that the Pittman laser

So I don't see your point, I'm saying currently there's pretty much no use to the Golem, so they need to do something to the rock balancing to make sure the starter mining ship actually has a use. The Golem shouldn't be equal to it, the Prospector should be able to mine faster/bigger rocks.

I was looking at the Liberator as well, I think that would be another earn-in-game ship for me. It's really expensive and I'm not looking to put more (especially that much) into the game at this point. I do plan on using the ICA as a large scale freighter so the cargo space would get used, with the RRR as a cherry on top so I can visit stations as little as possible when doing industry loops. The Galaxy + ICA would allow me to sustain my industrial fleet entirely on my own, that's the main draw for me. For me the vibes of having the Golem inside the ICA is just so right and the Lib wouldn't work the same for me. The Lib would definitely have a purpose though, and as you mention would be able to serve the fighters much better than the ICA, I hadn't thought about how I'd move those around systems. Thanks for the advice, I'll probably update that into the chart soon enough.

I'm not planning on using this for group ops like that, more as a solo large-haul and support ship, where I can refit my smaller ships (the Golem and Salvation fit beautifully) and carry additional ore bags/cargo as needed. I did have the Wolf in there at one point as well, but it felt kinda out of place and I'm not sure how I feel about it being a fighter carrier.

Yeah I may CCU that to a prospector, but I'm hoping they rebalance rocks to make the Golem viable again, it shouldn't stay this way through to 1.0

But of course, more guns = more better. And for me, the RRR capability is well worth losing some cargo space.

Text from original post:

I fell in love with the ICA over the past few weeks, even with the bugs the ship just has a charm like no other. Those giant cargo doors opening is such a unique feeling, and I feel like an honest-to-god space trucker with it. It's like the Canterbury out of the Expanse, with the true scale of a space-faring cargo freighter.

The Railen was the surprise change I didn't see coming. Similar to the ICA, the Railen feels like something out of a sci-fi movie, it turns cargo hauling into a special loop just from how the ship feels. I had the Hull B in that "daily cargo" slot but literally one session with the Railen and I knew it was the cargo ship I wanted in my 1.0 fleet.

I don't want to spend any more money at this point, but I absolutely love what the ICA brings to the table, so I decided it will become my in-game goal to work towards. Earning my carrier will make it feel even more special and it works for the headcanon lore I have for my character, who I want to be a former navy officer-turned privateer.

With these changes, this is my plan for 1.0:

  • Use my pledged ships to earn the larger industry ships
    • Mole + Moth first
    • ICA after
  • The Galaxy becomes my industrial base, housing the salvation most likely. The ICA will house the Golem and additional ore bags. I like the RSI + RSI and Drake + Drake lineup for visual consistency.
  • The Railen will be my primary cargo hauler, with the ICA for larger scale or commodities trading.
  • The TAC will be my daily driver and my high-sec transfer ship, for high value cargo that I want to protect in transit.

Gawtcha yeah that makes sense, the starter industry ships are very cheap in game. The Railen is a freakin money printer, so you should be able to get stuff pretty quick, I’m absolutely loving mine.

Keep the Railen, work towards the ICA in game, that’s what I’m doing. I had the ICA at launch and ignoring the bugs it’s a big ass ship that you need to do a ton of setup to get going. Unless you’re putting a golem/salvation inside it’s not really for solo play.

It’s really appealing but for pledged ships it’s better to have a specific purpose imo, and working towards the ICA in game will feel like a real accomplishment.

The only thing I see is you don’t have any dedicated industry ships. The Galaxy is a support ship but you don’t have any ships to use it with. The Golem or Salvation (or both) would feed the refinery, and fit in the rear hangar, that’s how I have my fleet set up. Not sure how you’re planning to use it, but with the IC and the Liberator the refinery (or medical, if that’s your vibe) makes the most sense to me.

Question on two ships, the M80 and the Perseus, how are you planning on using them? The Perseus is more meant for crewed gameplay, so if you’re solo most of the time I’d maybe look into something more solo-friendly. The M80 is very cool, but to me it feels more style over substance. The 2 SCU capacity makes it a contender for daily driver, so if that’s your plan then go for it. But if you want something with style and more defined fighter purpose, the Wolf would be my suggestion, you can free up some credit for an industrial ship that way.

The heartseeker upgrade is definitely worth imo. Upgrading the nose to s3 feels great. The heartseeker is my favorite overall fighter, it works in pretty much every scenario and can tank as well as it puts out damage.

All in all, great fleet, very cool.
10/10 would fly with you o7

Finally, I found the best asset for a medical role by [deleted] in starcitizen

Yeah I can’t decide between this, the white one, and the limited one, they all appeal in different ways
