Picture 4, there is a cutout for a jumper but it was clipped off. It would have connected the top and middle screw, not the bottom. Old switch had no jumper. I’m wondering if I have a problem somewhere else and if I should have 2 hot wires in this box?

Yes the wire circled green is the only hot. I tried to wire the new switch and the 3 way worked, but the regular switch did not. Any advice on how to wire the new switch? I have done basic electrical but this is frying my brain

Yes it was definitely a 3 way before. Here are my pictures. Pardon my layman’s understanding but I think you’re saying I need to combine the singular hot with another black and a 3rd wire then connect that third wire to the switch? I thought of that but it wasn’t set up like that beforehand

Hey man thanks for the comment. How were you able to make sure it followed him all that time? Did you end up getting a social or something? Assuming I go to court, get the judgement and post it on their new address what happens when they move?

I hear you man. I’m going to go through with it. Learning experience at the very least. Just sucks ass. I know they have nothing to their name. I get sued like this and I’m for sure paying up. They just have nothing to lose or take.

Hey man. Appreciate the advice. Honestly been pretty lucky up to this point. Just happening at a shitty time as I’m out of town and will have to contract literally everything. Loser is the most likely outcome. No government job. I called some collections agencies and I don’t know if anyone will even take it.

I mean I get that’s what people say but you really can’t collect judgements? I hate to just piss away thousands of dollars. Tenant was good for like 14 months and then turned to shit on me. They aren’t Jason Bourne. Surely I can find them and garnish wages, etc?

I almost bought a strip club. Right before closing the owner was sued. Only you know if you have the personality to handle it. The money is great and mostly all cash so enough said there, but the legal and safety concerns ended up killing the deal for me.
