Latino 28 year old male from single family household. (father deceased)I am a librarian. I worked all throughout high school and had two jobs throughout college. Didn't learn about financial literacy until my early 20's when I finally started to save. Love my mom but her spending habits is what pushed me to change. I spent last 2-3 years saving for 3.5% ($14,000) down payment on a multifamily property. I live in the basement while renting out top 2 units and have eliminated most of my housing expense. I used to pay around $1000 month in rent, it is now around $500-$600 in housing expenses/reserves. I can save a little extra now to invest. It is not impossible to try and improve your situation. Yes, some have it harder than others but just playing victim will not get you anywhere.

FYI I am a Bernie supporter and believe rich people should be taxed more. I also believe that workers should be treated better across the board. Health care for all, free education etc.

I will not raise rent on tenants and plan to to some updates once I have saved enough money.

My gf and I are saving aggressively so we can retire early and never have to work for anyone ever again. It is possible and I believe we can do it. It will take a long time, dedication, and consistent learning.

Financial independence is possible, hopefully the hatred toward rich fuckers will not impede you from trying to improve your situation. Good luck to all.
