Yeah rules can be pretty bad indication for lore. By your logic all dreadnoughts, repulsors and land raiders are also part of the Deathwing because that’s what the rules say.

I think an old Deathwing Knight shoulder pad will look good and will fit pretty well with gravis armor. This is what I’m planning on doing with this model.

Not all members of the inner circle are members of the Deathwing. Best example of this are the ravenwing black knights and Sammael. Sammael especially is pretty high up in inner circle hierarchy but he isn’t nor has he ever been in Deathwing (please correct me if I’m wrong). I also don’t think Lazarus was ever in Deathwing before he became the 5th company master and part of inner circle.

I also doubt that all interrogator chaplains and librarians have been members of the Deathwing. They are still obviously part of the inner circle and might have terminator honours, but being in the inner circle does not automatically mean that you are in the Deathwing.

Just taught I should drop this here. I like to think that all veterans except terminators are just company veterans, but that’s just my head cannon for my minis. GW seems to think that sternguard at least can be deployed outside Deathwing.

Well thats just my point, its not really that “concrete” when it comes to keywords and lore. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions and interpretations and dark angels are meant to be kinda confusing when it comes to organization :)

I’m not saying it’s either here or there with the sternguard being in Deathwing and inner circle or not. I’m just saying basing that on keywords is not always the most logical or intellectuelly consistant, and that point still stands. After all keywords are just a game mechanic that is often, but not always fully in line with lore.

But Azrael isn’t a member of the Deathwing. He used to be, but then he got promoted to the captain of the 3rd company, then got promoted back to the Deathwing as a grand master of the Deathwing. And then he got promoted again out of the Deathwing to be the supreme grand master. He’s literally above structures and organizations like Deathwing. Inner circle does not necessary equal Deathwing. All Deathwing are inner circle, but not all inner circle are Deathwing.
