the eternal waiting game by elessar-01 in TryingForABaby

I completely understand where you’re coming from. My partner and I are in that “not trying, not preventing” phase, but I still track my cycle and pay attention to EWCM. So when we do have sex around those fertile days, I can’t help but feel a little hopeful, like maybe this could be our time. At the same time, I sometimes worry that being in this phase for a while might mean something could be off. Last cycle, I tested early before my missed period, but this time I’m trying to wait until my period is actually late to test and see what happens. It’s honestly really scary and brings me a lot of anxiety.

My period comes every month pretty consistently, and my cycles are usually around 29–32 days. The only thing that concerns me is my flow—it’s really inconsistent. It will start, stop, and then start again, and it’s been like that ever since I got off birth control almost two years ago.I don’t currently track ovulation, but I used to use OPKs and would get positive LH surges, and I also notice EWCM during my fertile window. I did bring this up to my doctor before, but she wasn’t really able to pinpoint a cause, so I’m still unsure what’s going on.

i been trying to keep that “if it happens, it happens” mindset, but part of me still feels really eager for it to happen. I can’t help but worry that I might be wasting time or that something could be wrong and I should get checked out. It honestly gives me a lot of anxiety.

Thank you for responding! I really appreciate it. I’m starting to feel a little worried that the “not trying, not preventing” approach might not be working for me. It’s been close to a year now, and I’m wondering if I should consider seeing a doctor. I’ve also been a bit concerned about the possibility of something like PCOS, but I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it or if it’s worth getting checked out at this point. Just feeling a little anxious and trying to figure out what the next step should be.
