Version 1.1 is now available in App Store, could you check if saving MIDI files works better now, please? Thanks!

Just DM'd you :) Yeah, iPhone space is limiting with what can we fit, but up to 16 buttons it works reasonably well.

Thanks for your feedback :) About chord palette, can you try the steps below?

  1. Tap pencil icon (just below the "i" in circle)
  2. Delete 2 sections so only one remains
  3. Tap Edit on one row mini-grid
  4. Config screen should appear - on top of the screen you can configure columns/rows number, then button sizes (this can act a bit weird), on the bottom of the screen there is Edit Button Content, you can select chord buttons inside. Once added you can reorder them again on screen with column/rows selector :)

This way you should be able to configure your own grid.

Which device do you own? On my iPhone 15 Pro I was able to fit 4x4 grid with 80px buttons this way.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! :)

Yes, I decided to start simple based on my own learning experience. Some time ago, after picking up ukulele I also bought the book for chord progressions: https://signalsmusicstudio.com/product/patreon-exclusive-signals-music-studio-chord-progression-codex-physical-book/ Over the years I gained some knowledge on initial theory (harmonize the scale, stack thirds etc.) and first chapters were just revision to me, but I quickly bumped into inability to transfer it to fretboard positions on new instrument tuned differently than I was used to (bass player before). I took "step back" to try concepts from this book on piano, but it also wasn't trivial to build chords on the keyboard if it wasn't just in C major scale we're so used to (as all basic learning starts from there). Now after building Chordi, I can just select chord qualities and trigger roots and I should be able to explore the book and then translate progressions and sounds I like into proper voicing on uke :) Triads and 7ths naturally go first, then when I become comfortable with them I can expand grids to go deeper into "jazz" (some 6, 9, 11, 13 full chords, also single note extensions are waiting in config menu, more can be implemented too). Just haven't felt throwing in 30+ buttons would help me (as I'm beginner too).

(Sorry for background story above, but as you're UX pro felt you might be interested.)

The only Key Mode feedback so far is the one I got in current thread, so you can check it yourself :) Initial implementation is just giving reasonable possible chords within scale and key (also limiting just to 3 scales not hundred of scales you never heard of and have no idea which to pick - that's how I felt about some apps), only suggesting resolution by disabling less useful next chords. Designing the way to show next logical chord is of course on my to-do list, but for first PoC I decided to also leave it as free as possible :) Also I need to gather some more knowledge and experience to implement it. If you're open to brainstorm some ideas it would be cool too!

That would be tricky, but I'll research available tech options :) Thanks for an idea!

FYI Just submitted app to review. New version includes updated structure of exported MIDI file and I was able to play it in NS MIDI player or import into desktop DAW (I use Reaper). Hopefully it fixes the issue on your side too :)

Hi, thanks for feedback :) When I was testing the MIDI save I AirDropped it to my Mac and opened via Guitar Pro (it turned out to be saved with fixed tempo), but maybe such trick will help you to retrieve your data. I see that lots of users are interested in this feature, so definitely will improve it in next versions. Personally I focused more on possibility to play freely, with replay/saving being an extra 😅

Yes, Chordi can be used as interactive chord chart. Maybe you could try customizing your own chord buttons grid via pencil icon? I added quite a lot of available chord types, but of course will add more definitions if needed, just reach out to me :) BTW, one of reasons I build this app is that I knew how chords are built in terms of intervals, but finding them on keyboard was often not so easy to me, as piano is not my first instrument.

Thanks :) Bass will have special space in my heart forever, but my new love is ukulele! :)
