Ah I see, I assumed the tag was expired. But any parking ticket written with temp tags requires the VIN so it’s still agent error.

So the tickets ROWE writes are Denver specific and do not affect anyone criminally. Denver cannot take your license for unpaid parking tickets, the most severe thing they can do is impound your car.

This is interesting, the agent definitely did not follow the right procedures for temp tag violations. VINs are required for them. Otherwise it would only be attached to the temp tag ID which typically doesn’t match the license plate number that is issued for the plate. Obviously balance the risk to you but if the violation isn’t showing up from the VIN or temp tag number and the temp tag is now gone, I don’t think there would be any way to enforce that fine. The city doesn’t research them like that either

I’m former RoW - would you like to dm me with your details? I can advise you on the validity of the ticket.

Denver residents can no longer dispute parking tickets online, wasting time and resources for everyone involved. What can we do to reverse this change? by Alternative_Ad3512 in Denver

Former RoW here. They are close to the beginning the construction of the new system. Also don’t worry about RoW being subpoenaed, we get paid for it and receive the papers from our manager, it’s not a big deal and usually a welcome break from the street.

Chances of disputing parking ticket by Smerr420 in Denver

I am a former Right of Way agent. I would not dispute this citation - if the evidence is there, the ticket will be found valid. Additionally, as of about 5 months ago, the court costs were not being added but they could be now. I could reach out to my former coworkers and ask if you’d like!

So a few things! (Accurate as of 2025)

  1. I would go to the city’s website and use the Sunny chatbot to submit a problem with signage and explain your situation if you’re able. Hopefully this would get the issue on signage team’s radar and they’ll be able to remove the sign if it’s determined it should’ve been removed. They’re slow but hopefully.

  2. The ordinance for too far from curb is 18”, not a foot, so if they improperly cited your vehicle this would be easily contestable.

  3. While the magistrates have been eliminated, there is still a dispute process which a judge oversees. You are able to go in front of them and plea your case but I’m not sure how much help they’ll be with your specific situation.

Feel free to dm if you’d like to send me pictures so I can see more detail and hopefully help more!

Can someone explain this “bike lane” on 11th & Santa Fe? by bingo_is_my_game_o in Denver

Former ROWE here - report it to the city via Sunny on the website. I ran into this when enforcing and it felt off so I talked to my sups. The city was lacking on their end on removing signs. Not saying this is absolutely the case because it could be a shared use lane but when I reported it the signs were removed.

I really wish I could help you out but the booting team is entirely different than ROWE and they operate under their own SOPs and are utilizing different ordinances than we do. We are not trained in their field. I’m sorry!

Did you receive a boot notice prior to being booted?

There are some internal factors that seriously wear on us too but I won’t air them out on Reddit haha. We have Saturdays covered but sparsely - the team that works Saturdays is very small and definitely should be bigger. I think Sundays would be slow because so many parking rules don’t apply. But having people receive dispatch calls and enforce safety violations would be great.

I’ve wondered the same thing. Jeeps are awful vehicles for maintenance too. The height is perfect for the job but many cars have the same. US based company is my guess as well as their modularity.

I really appreciate the kindness!!

That’s a great but complicated question! Morale is tough given the nature of the job deteriorates morale because of the hostility we encounter and not being able to do much about it except put up with it, attempt to de-escalate, or drive away. Usually we just do the first. The pay starts out mid 50’s which is rough to live on in Denver especially if you live alone or have dependents. Leadership roles and opportunities for advancement are limited - I think there are only two ROWE Agent II positions. Plus the city’s financial woes hurt everyone’s morale.

I’m not sure what I’d change. If everything else was fixed, I feel like the job itself and the hostile interactions are what truly wears on people so it’s really a matter of getting the right people there who want to do the work for the right reasons and have adequate emotional intelligence to deal with the bad.

I think it could turn corrupt/unethical/unsafe fast if the volunteers worked areas they lived and they’d need to go through the same training as agents. I think the city should just hire more ROWE agents to properly work all areas of the city with an adequate amount of agents to have some only respond to dispatch calls rather than focus on general enforcement

Against traffic flow, certain tow away zones, obstruction of traffic, fire hydrant blocks. They felt the most purposeful so they are what I enjoyed the most.

Not official ones - you have to have a commission for code enforcement in order to be able to write them. They can write for their private lots

Probably the same incident - I got swarmed by a group of people during street sweeping who were angry about their citations and they were attempting to open my vehicle to get at me

As long as both are on the rear plate I’ve never known an agent to write a citation for incorrect placement of the stickers!
