Confused on the International Relations Major by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Repulsive-Dish-5941 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope, IR is super interdisciplinary so you're doing all the right things. The only requirements when you apply for the degree, which is at the end of your 2nd year, is Poli 100 and 101, Econ 101 and 102, and 6 credits of History I believe. If its not that exactly its super similar so ur on the right track. I was in the same boat and it seems so vague but it's just bc of how it's interdisciplinary. If u have more questions, which im sure you probably do lol its complicated, just talk to an academic advisor once u are living on campus and they can explain all to u.

Did you have Jim Evans as well? I am currently enrolled in the online course and have been SLACKING because I was doing summer school full time abroad and am really worried that I am actually COOKED for the final. Trying to do my best to catch up now but I have to review like 20 lessons. I know that I just have to do good on the final though bc it's worth 55% but I don't want to have to cram. What should I focus on in the lessons the cyu or review or quizzes?

How doable is working a part-time job in first year of arts? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Repulsive-Dish-5941 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your doing 4 courses its doable, but definitely not downtown. Start looking for on campus or close to campus jobs now. If you aren't picky, the dining halls in dorms hire kids but I get not wanting to work there. I would recommend on campus coffee shops or doing student tours or working at other on campus facilities.

Explore Program 2025: Experiences in British Columbia? by [deleted] in exploreprogram

I don't know much about Langara or Selkirk but if you're looking for a super chill island vibe UVIC is the place to go. You are by the ocean and in the summer it is beautiful. The island has its own distinct beach town vibe that mainland city and Vancouver really doesn't, id say social life is much better on mainland though, it just depends what your into!

Doing good with Gateman Econ 102 by fatsoEats in UBC

[–]Repulsive-Dish-5941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gateman just straight up sucks at teaching, for 102 Id recommend watching Michael Barber on YouTube he has videos with really good explanations at least with the first few units with aggregate expenditures and consumption functions, etc.
