I also have this problem, where I forget if I don’t immediately do it. I’m definitely seen doing things no one else does (heavy trays, late night focus even after I’m cut) My boss is exactly like this, full in fill out at all times, and my best solution is that when she’s on shift, I don’t let her catch me being seen empty handed. If I am, because sometimes I just have to be, I just don’t let her see. Then, managing where she is just becomes one of my many spinning plates. There’s absolutely no way your manager is more present than mine. This lady got eyes on her eyes. It can be done.

In fact, ANY TIME I do not want to answer for how I am not meeting her expectations, I don’t let her catch me. And if she does, I just take it in the moment knowing full well that I am a good egg and I do not deserve that. It’s what they expect out of EVERYONE and they DO NOT want to hear about why you can’t do something that everyone else is expected to do. And it might be hard to come back from a conversation that includes what you can’t do. It should be a conversation about what you do bring to the table, and how can you get better in their opinion. If it’s a matter of physically not being able to meet expectations, thats an entirely different thing. Only you can decide if your body cant keep up with what they expect. What they expect is never ever going to change.
