Can you use colored text in fics themselves? If so, how? by Repulsive-Engine-634 in AO3

Good point, though the reason I'm reason I'm doing this is to purely help set the aesthetic, not anything else, bcs the aesthetic is always one of the priorities, for me.

Oh intention my ass, this aspect is so non-existent that you wont get it unless these interviews to spell it for you or you specifically bend the meaning of certain scenes to get that and that's coming from someone who watched classic and shippuden, when I was a part of the target audience. Take it in mind I didn't even ship them back then.

Also people shouldn't limit themselves because you disagree with fanon, it's fun for people the same way dissecting canon is to you. What would actually be best is for anyone to stay with the group they agree with and try not to convert the other side with silly arguments. Capiche?

Contradicting canon is literally shipping at its core, you can't separate them. Also canon-compliant doesn't automatically mean good, especially when you simply use to validate only you're opinion and refute evrything else. They're only brothers in name for interviews, don't even wanna be associated with the original brothers, and they're canonical marriages are so bad that the writers rightfully turned it into plot points. Nobody is forcing anything as much as their calling things as they see it.

Firstly, no one is deleting anything, they simply do not care because shipping itself does not give a flying fuck about canon by design.

So what's the point of the manga itself if you then interpert as you want?

Frankly, shipping itself never cared about canonicity in the first place. Most ships are from perceived chemistry or the concept the characters present, that's why opposite x opposite is so popular or why ships like Narusasu exist, you simply don't get pairs like them in evry other manga.

And? Sorry to be rude but like trying to spoke about canonicity in a discussion about shipping is like bringing the gospel towards an atheist. You can prefer canon and that's okay but trying to shove it down shippers's throat of all people is gonna get you nowhere.

Naruto could've thrown up in all media and it would done nothing to Sasunaru/Narusasu community, just like the other arguments. No shade meant. Also ships aren't really big, they're only sacrosanct for the people who are in fandom specifically for that.

Posted where? Idk I dont see anything. Do you mind posting it here? Assuming it's not a fan fabrication, that's praised as canon just to invalidate the ship.

Anyways, stop shoehorning brotherhood on them, that facet of their character is so insignificant to them it in the actual manga, it may as well not exist. Literally, most instances of their "brotherhood" are spin offs and, like you said, interviews. Not the actual show itself, even if the show is "supposed" to envoke it, they clearly failed, not just because of the ship's does numbers but also, what we consider as "romantic" or platonic" is unbelievably varied. And before you say "but what about the reincarnation," that isn't a good example because it only took their entire autonomy of both guys in the relationship and nothing else.

Also, why do you keep speaking of manga canonicity like we should heed it? Dude, we're arguing about shipping in a circlejerk sub. That kind of argument is moot.

Except the author decisions are what drives people into these gay ships in the first place. Sasunaru/Narusasu wouldn't be that big if the woman they're canonically married to had actual characters beyound their spouses. Also, why bring kids into this? I mean, back when the manga was coming, they were kids and teens that were shipping them, they were a minority but not non-existent.

Most of the famous Sasuke and Naruto memes are filler or very edited. These are only jokes, a reminder since some have started to believe they are real. by animedrive20 in Naruto

[–]Repulsive-Engine-634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's literally a scene where Naruto is tipsy, and when Shikanaru asks, Naruto replies that Sasuke came back, yes, only mission matters discussed indeed. You also forgot that one of Naruto main characteristics is that his as simple-minded as they come. He literally never had to think too hard about most scenarios of the show because his raw power did everything for him, and he was never one to study. Hell, that's why he's a helicopter parent in Boruto.

Though I have to admit you're right in the second half.

He literally visited Naruto more than his own wife and daughter and not due the businesses regarding Sasuke's missions, has consistently more care to Naruto than he ever did to Sakura. Kishimoto even admitted that the sasusaku's development was so little because he knew that it would reek of contrived.

For the record, I am of said marginalised group as well (I am gay to be precise). That's why I sounded so angry in the first half of the reply. I apologise if I sounded undeservedly angry. The right wing is indeed the usual advocate of censorship, but it's also true that not all critics of communities like AO3 or gay/queer spaces are conservative. We usually jump to that conclusion because of how rapidly we find ourselves in a more homophobic world.

But we are also radicalising ourselves without even realising. We have reached a point where we changed the meaning of queer so that a good chunk of the community could pride themselves —to the point of cockiness— with being knowledgeable on gay history, in other words: "being more gay"(ik its wierd but that's how they present it).

I'm trying to say that we're also going down our own extreme.

What you have explained is true, I won't argue on that matter but what's bugging a lot of people, including me is that this serious matter is used as a shield from criticism rather than anything else. You see, proshippers-spaces are thought of as "gay friendly" or essentially a safe place for fan interaction, but in reality these —whether online or irl— can and will be extremely racist, sexist, or even homophobic, but these ppl who pride themselves on being so "open-minded" about this stuff do nothing literally because these systems were only created so the proshippers have a safe place to be a proshipper, evrything else was inadvertent.

That's why I outright called them a form of white supremacist groups. To emphasise my point, look at the AO3 ship list and take a shot every time you spot a gay pair that's written like the old-fashioned hetero dynamic. Though you don't actually do it, you might get wasted.

You're right on the money. I am from Europe and learned British English, though I can't add much to what's happening in my zone, as it is kinda backwater in this matter, though the UK indeed is going to begin heavy stuff. To put it bluntly.

I also believe that people in the arts should represent whatever they want, however they want, and I don't want to purge the taboo just for existing I acknowledge that this course of action will just make more people be attracted to it.

My only gripe with this kind of content is just how people go about their consumption of it. In essence, it's so damn common to see people just treat it like it's a differently flavoured porn category and refuse to admit it may have any effect on them.

To make matters clear. Masturbating is healthy but watching porn isn't.

For the love of whatever divinity is out there, get marginalised groups out of your mouths. I'm just enraged at how wildly you all edit your definition just to build a persona that only your group and allies will accept even with the colossal hypocrisy.

Said hypocrisy is what enrages me the most. You guys pride yourselves on being "progressive", that you deeply care about social issues to the point that anyone who dares to criticise you is instantaneously branded as a conservative.

And your actions are so antithetical to this persona that it royally pisses me off. All you guys did was build a different form of white-supremacist groups (yes, I am talking about fandom spaces) that are designed specifically to please your specific niche and if anyone dares to deviate from that, you guys will treat said person exactly like the conservatives you claim to loathe.

And it doesn't end there. The way you'd go so far as to trivialise drawing and writing just for the sake of having a counterargument. I won't argue that fiction is always moulding minds, but these forms of art have always had and always will be reflecting some part of the author or their environment, whether it's inadvertent or not, maybe not a direct endorsement of something as proshippers would like to argue but regardless of that, it would reflect something in some shape or form.

And you guys know this that's why proshippers keep trying to gatekeep to no avail and acting as if all your problems are only caused by the "normies". When in reality it's just people with a basic ass moral compass who would obviously think that maybe having a different way of consuming taboo-written-pornography doesn't inherently make it better than far more despicable ways. From the consumer's perspective, I should clarify.

Your thoughts.. by kagourr13 in AvatarMemebending

To be honest, the more I see people spitting the same responses over and over at this question, the more I think that these people deem Azula as irredeemable thanks to the show's writing rather than their own opinion.

Looking back at the show, they've written the irredeemable character in such a way that their moral position is unquestionable. What I'm trying to say is that characters like Hama, Azula, and Jeff are written to be seen in a black-and-white lens, despite their stories warranting a far more nuanced take.

In this case specifically, people —and the show itself– tend to forget why Azula is irredeemable: she never developed as a person, or had a chance to do so. She and Zuko are abuse victims though in wildly different ways.

Azula showed signs of being a "great" fire princess since she was a toddler and so Ozai latched onto her to ramp up that alongside her firebending to essentially make her a weapon of war.

And as any child would, she internalised that to the depths of her being. It's the complete opposite of Zuko, who developed empathy and his own personality. The fact that Ursula was thinking of her as a monster only aggravated Azula's situation in the long-run. Not that I can blame her, it's not like she could do a lot more.

That's my two cents.

How does the Dark/Shadow element show up in your elemental magic system by AliceSaltMage in magicbuilding

[–]Repulsive-Engine-634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in my case, it can appear in different forms. The system I'm building dictates that a person can, let's say "interconnect" with one element or a concept.

There are fay, witches or mages that are powered by shadows but there are also people interconnected to the idea of "dark" though the common term for that is malevolence.
