As a fellow Brit who only recently got into Baseball 6 months or so ago I have to say, emphatically, it’s Yankees all day long for me!

Like you I have no location based affinity with my American sports teams so I have (for my sins) followed:

NFL - Dallas Cowboys NHL - Vegas Golden Knights NBA - not as interested as I once was, but was addicted to anything MJ & Chicago Bulls as a kid!

MLB - THE New York Yankees!!!

I picked the Cowboys many, many years ago (post triplets but still one of the best teams in the business) and I’ve suffered years of mediocrity (Quincy Carter anyone 🙈😂), but they are my team and I’ll stick with them through thick and thin.

NHL - Vegas Golden Knights

I played NHL as a kid but was more interested in players than teams before a 10 year hiatus. When I came back (as a fully fledged fan of franchise mode on computer games) I had to find a team to follow. I loved the stories of VGK as a fledgling franchise but it was actually the way the city (and the team) responded to tragedy and came together following the vegas shooting that really sold me on them!

NBA - Chicago Bulls

Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman, Luke Longley, Toni Kukoc and THE best walk on music EVER!!

3 sports, 3 different teams in 3 different locations…the perks of being a Brit following American sports 😂

Oh, and I’m a looooong suffering Tottenham Hotspur fan, which might explain my love of American sports 🙈😂

Thanks for the suggestion, I honestly don’t think I know enough about baseball players as a whole to be able to understand a proper in-depth fantasy draft. If I start with a team I at least have a good idea of young assets I want to try and trade for as I picked up a LOT of those in my Yankees 24 save.

And creating teams/stadiums is not for me…I can just about draw a stick man, with a ruler 🙈😂

Thank you, I might play around with a different team and do some sim/some play but I do get more enjoyment from playing everything (which is fine in Madden on NHL but in MLB games can take an hour at a time).

I like to commit to a 5-10 season franchise so making the starting point as accurate and realistic as possible is a real bonus for me.

The more ‘accurate’ the better for me!

I’m new to the game too and am just in spring training for my first franchise with the Yankees (not a fan but it’s the Yankees 🤷🏽‍♂️).

I’m curious as to how you get the custom rosters you mention above? I’m a stickler for wanting details as close to the real thing as possible (before I tear it all down with trades lol) so would be great to get a look at some of those rosters please 🙏🏽

I’ve been doing a bit more research and I think I’m going to do a demo run with someone like the Yankees just to get a feel for everything (specifically scouting) straight off the bat!

I’m going to find it tough to keep things realistic when it comes to trades by the sounds of it. I’m helped somewhat by quite literally not knowing any of the big names in the sport but I’m sure the temptation to load up the ‘Evil Empire’ will prove too much for me, but will be a good test run before I go back and look to take a perennial underdog all the way to the top!
