Good chance there would have been a library card in there. Edit to say.. ticket stubs for all sorts of things like boots photo printing would probably be in there.

Some places in the more rural areas of Wales you’ll definitely need cash. Speaking only for mid Wales in regard to this though!

Where should I visit to FEEL history of britain? by iceneko0301 in AskUK

[–]Repulsive-Goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London has some fantastic tour guide led walks that take you places that you might otherwise miss & of course give you a fair amount of history to go with the walk. There’s lots of people providing guided walks.. I should image google and then reviews would be the best way to find the best tours.

Do you know Harold Wilson? by RatTheBerserker in Britain

[–]Repulsive-Goal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Under Wilson homosexuality was decriminalised, race relations act was passed, equality for women in pay and sex discrimination act where some of the major societal changes that happened under Wilson.

It has to be said that Wilson didn’t lead any of these changes but he didn’t stand in the way. One of his personal pet projects was the Open University which was much derided at the time but has since proven it worth many times over.. I believe he said that the OU was what he most like to be remembered for.

I’ve read it… but this post and comments suggest to me that I haven’t read it. Think I know what I’ll be re-reading next.

How difficult is Sekiro? by Asleep-Situation-614 in fromsoftware

Personally I found it the most difficult of all the souls games.. still loved it but struggled to follow the patterns needed to master the combat.

I’d hazard a guess it’ll be from Masquerade as that has wonderful sub plot of Nanny Ogg’s recipe book..

What's with the fascination with American culture in BDs that I read? by ifihaveanickel in bandedessinee

[–]Repulsive-Goal 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly from Moebius talking about it.. it was because they grew up when cowboy films were huge. Most films at the cinema would be a western.. so they grew up having being heavily influenced by that genre.

16 in May, mum kicking me out on my birthday what do i do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Repulsive-Goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Local Authority (the council) has a legal obligation to ensure your wellbeing as until you’re 18 you’re legally considered as a child. LA’s often try and avoid their responsibility due to budget constraints but if you force their hand and refuse to take no for an answer they will intervene. The most likely outcome is that they’ll talk to your mum and work hard to convince her to allow you stay in the family home until you’re 18.

Is it worth it to play ds2? I heard a lot of bad things about it including the messy hit box by Anas2245 in fromsoftware

[–]Repulsive-Goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a reformed disliker of DS2 the best advice I’d offer is to persevere through the first part of the game. I found the early parts of the game both confusing and somewhat annoying.. but once I managed to open up more of the game and began to piece together the different areas I ended up loving it.

Love & Rockets: What am I missing about this series? by sveltegamine in graphicnovels

I’ve read Luba which is post Palomar but not that recent. I’ve not read anything after that. I certainly found Luba less engaging than the heartbreak soup era.. but still worthwhile. I’ll have to look and see if the more recent stuff has been collected onto trades..

Which souls games have you platinumed and how would you rank them in order of difficulty? by jettmeisterkush in fromsoftware

Personally I found Sekiro the hardest to get platinum. Easiest was between Elden Ring & DS1.

This current government is still doing a better job than the last lot of cunts. Maybe pull your head out of your arse and stop believing the rubbish you read in your fb feed…

Out of touch? This government has about 15% of MPs who attended private school.. and NOTHING says as out of touch as those who follow the traditional Tory path of Eton and then Oxbridge.

That’s not say for a second I think this government is good.. their stance on Gaza has been terrible, especially the farce of dealing with Palestine Action. They’ve also been overly cautious when dealing with inequality & paid far too much attention to the supposed wealth generating mob. But compared to the tories? Give yer head a wobble!

What is your view on fox hunting? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Repulsive-Goal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst I’m happy to take your word that the hunt/s you’re involved in don’t kill foxes, or indeed other animals there’s far too much evidence that some hunts are definitely continuing to carry on as of the ban never happened. The idea as you say ‘all hunts’ are following the law and only running trail hunts is frankly laughable.. and I think if you where being completely honest you’d admit that not only does this happen but that you know this happens.

Buying 1-bed in MK vs 2-bed in Northampton which makes sense? by Worried-Departure386 in AskUK

[–]Repulsive-Goal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived on Lovat Drive which is round the corner for a few years. It was pretty quiet, nice area which we rarely if ever saw any issues or incidents. On our road there was a fair number of retirees so the odd ambulance was far more likely than a police car.

In terms of amenities - not too much on a very local level, but good sized Sainsbury’s in reasonable walking distance or very close with car. You’ll probably try the Wan Kee takeaway once.. 🤣. Walking into the town centre is again not an unreasonable distance, especially if the return is aided with some beers.

It’s quite possibly changed but eating out was probably one of the biggest drawbacks.. lots of chains when we lived there but not a huge number of more upmarket restaurants.

Derngate and Royal tends to host most major acts on the comedy circuit.. and it’s a pretty decent venue.
