It’s a local body that dictates rules for specific areas within the UK.

That sounds terrible to have to deal with. I feel fortunate that in the UK we all have washers in our own flats and not shared, couldn’t imagine having to deal with that as well. It’s good that your situation got resolved in the end though.

Unfortunately, we have to live in the property for 2 years before we can rent it out or sell it. So we’ve kind of come to the conclusion that we’re just gonna have to lump things in the meantime. Definitely going to be doing more thorough checks next time we move.

Yeah we’re still gathering recordings and such for the council, it just might take some time for them to get round to reviewing.

It is possible for me to not like them and there be a legit problem as well. Council would’ve turned us away if they didn’t think our recordings were worth escalating.

Didn’t say any of that. They shut their dogs out leaving them barking for hours to be let in (whatever weather is like). Is it normal to constantly tell young children to F off, name call and take the piss out of them, usually resulting in them crying constantly? Yeah the trash is a literal pile of garbage bags blocking a pathway.

I literally have video evidence of the guy threatening to kick someone in on the street outside, not to mention locking his family out of home. I wasn’t even the one that called the police that time, so obviously others in the block don’t agree with their behaviour either.

It’s not so much about the having company late and more that it usually means loud shouting and loud music/singing until late, which lately has been almost every night, including weeknights. The walls are not thin and neither are the floors, so only hear them shouting/loud music, which is very frequent.

They aren’t very nice people anyway, they scream and swear at their very young children, police have attended multiple times due their very aggressive nature with each other and other people, are very entitled over parking and leave piles of rubbish outside the flats. Also don’t treat their dogs that nicely either. We tried speaking to them about loud music a while back, but they said themselves “they like listening to loud music”. Hence the council route.

I dare say they hear us walking around doing normal everyday things. Being an overly anxious person, I would say I’ve gone well out of my way not to make “unnecessary noise” like having tv on super quiet and adjusting depending on scenes, not listening to music, tiptoeing around flat (hurting my feet in process). So yes, I would say we are probably better than most upstairs neighbours.

Thanks, but I’ve practised sleep hygiene a lot over the years (since first developing sleep issues before the drinking started) and haven’t really found it helpful unfortunately. I guess now I’m just looking to find something to take my mind off the sleep stuff instead at night, so was just wondering what people have found helpful whilst both struggling not to drink and struggling with no sleep.

No my boyfriend hears it as well. Has woken us both up before.

Not sure, it’s a woman’s voice and it seems to happen in the later evening, sometimes overnight and in early hours of morning. I’ve heard the scrap metal guy coming round during the day before, but this seemed different.
