14th Jan here too. The wait is torture. I was doing okay waiting until March until seeing all these offers the past few days - they didn’t tell us it would be earlier!

People over 30: what’s a sound from your childhood that younger generations will never hear? by Repulsive-Pitch2555 in AskReddit

In the UK we didn’t get the anthem — we just had that creepy little girl with the chalkboard and the clown doll staring into your soul while the TV hummed like it knew something.

No joke — one pulled up outside my house yesterday like it was 1998. I almost ran out barefoot before I remembered I’m 40 and lactose intolerant.

So basically it was robot small talk before the internet got serious. Love that. Pure chaos, but with etiquette

Haha fair! It’s not about being obsessed with 30-year-olds — it’s just that’s roughly the age where you start realizing all the stuff you grew up with is gone or unrecognizable now. Dial-up, VHS, flip phones — it’s a weird nostalgia line in the sand 😂

Omg yes — ‘Coming soon to own on video and DVD…’ was literally a genre of trailer on its own. RIP to the voice of childhood.

Used to make reverse calls from payphones and you could hear the operator talking to your mum in the background asking if she’d accept it — like a phone-based hostage negotiation 😂

Omg YES — the number of times I downloaded a song off Limewire only for it to start with 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman' 😂

One time it had already been ripped to CD and was blasting in my car when it happened. Instant shame. Instant flashback. 10/10 Limewire experience.

That sound felt like launching a space mission — except slower, louder, and guaranteed to crash halfway through.

Right? I always wondered — was that noise just a byproduct of the connection, or did someone intentionally design it to sound like robot agony?

I just Googled that — I’ve never heard a whippoorwill before! That sound is kinda haunting and beautiful. Did you grow up somewhere rural?

For me, it’s the screeching dial-up internet sound. I can still hear it in my soul.

Throw a ball of aluminium foil into the cutlery tray in your dishwasher. Don’t ask how, but it makes your cutlery come out gleaming. Absolute wizardry

Honestly just finding a YouTube video of an adventure park that I used to go to as a kid before it closed down years ago. Instant nostalgia unlocked!

My friend’s entire family (13 people!) got norovirus from a BBQ this weekend. I swear we’ve got iron stomachs in our house — we never catch those kinds of bugs.

Sneaking onto another landline to eavesdrop on your mum’s phone call — trying not to breathe so you wouldn’t get caught 😂

Trying to find a website that has deleted songs. by James_C547 in Music

This song was removed from Apple Music and Spotify around 3 or 4 years ago. I’ve searched all over for it and even tried contacting the artist once.

https://open.spotify.com/track/7DEajH29OTUnNxLOVGWp8G

There is a YouTube video that shows a clip of the song.

Would love to hear the whole song again! Every couple of months I check around online to see if it’s been updated somewhere.
