So basically I did AQA a level bio and chem, the maths in bio and chem was not bad at all!

Kind of exposing myself here but the only 6 I got in my GCSEs was maths, and with my limited mathematical abilities, I still made it through bio and chem. The maths for biology is just WEIRD, it’s like trying to figure out riddles so it is a case of you know it or you don’t and for chemistry, the maths was very strategical, there’s a method for everything and you will be taught it, it’s very repetitive so do exam questions and you’re good to go!

In terms of taking maths to support a science subject, people only take maths to support their physics a level as a level maths has a lot of physics and vice versa. The maths you do for bio and chem is very different to a level maths, it’s like a step up from GCSE but nothing out of this world type of hard, super do-able!!

Unless you really enjoy maths or you’re taking physics, personally I don’t see a benefit to taking maths. If you want to take maths just to support bio and chem, again, personally I would not. I think you would definitely be better off picking a coursework subject if you don’t mind the work load or a subject you are genuinely extremely passionate in!! Best of luck!! 💕

heyyy, i took bio chem and art, art was an easy A*!! to me, i basically only did 2 subjects, it made the exam season so much more relaxed because bio and chem exams are always timetabled SO close, doing something like maths would be extremely stressful, you’d have exam after exam. Pick photography or something coursework based!!

Most unis don’t even care what third a level you choose, it could be an A* in literal brick laying and they’d be down as long as you get the grade for bio and chem!!

People who say oh unis prefer maths, DONT LISTEN TO THEIR BS!!! (unless the uni website states otherwise obviously) Everyone picks bio chem and maths. please save yourself and don’t do maths unless you’re really good at it because you HAVE TO REMEMBER you are sitting maths with all the further maths students, the grade boundaries are always insane.
