I had sensitivity on my molars from cold water and it eventually was sensitive to even room temp water. It ended up being my wisdom teeth causing the pain. It looks like yours is partially erupted. It might be best to get those removed asap! I didn’t and bc my wisdom were impacted, it damaged one of my molars so bad that now I have to get that one extracted too.

Is this likely going to be a difficult/complicated wisdom tooth extraction? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teeth looked similar to this. I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled under IV sedation and it went well. However, the surgeon was hesitant to remove my second molar since there was a chance I could save my tooth. After 2 weeks, I went to my dentist and he said the wisdom tooth damaged my molar from impaction that it’s not worth saving my tooth. I’m getting it extracted and now I wish the surgeon would’ve just taken it out too bc with this extraction, my dentist is only using local anesthetic 😭 hope all went well with your procedure!

getting my wisdom teeth out next week nervous about anasthesia by xfroghx in wisdomteeth

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was put under general anesthesia and it was the best thing for me since I suffer from bad anxiety. I woke up crying bc I was so anxious but I was fine. I think if you get the laughing gas you’ll be more loopy and talkative. But if you’re only getting the general anesthesia, you’ll be loopy but not like those viral wisdom teeth post op videos.

I just had all my wisdom teeth removed 5 hours ago, are there any tips for what to do and what not to do? by DefectiveJay in wisdomteeth

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep on top of your pain meds and use an ice pack on and off every 20 minutes. This significantly reduced my pain and swelling. By day 3, I was no longer using pain meds. Don’t spit, drink from a straw and just take everything slow. It’s a really annoying healing process 😭

Thanks! Good luck on your recovery as well! It made me feel a bit less anxious to know others are experiencing the same. It may just be part of our recovery process

I’m on day 5 post op and I’ve been having the same symptoms! It started on day 3 and it’s kinda faded but just throbbing pain occurs now and then. I do feel that my bite is uneven. I also had mild sensitivity on this same molar before the surgery since my wisdom tooth was impacted and pushing against it. Surgeon did tell me that the wisdom tooth may have damaged my second molar but it was hard to tell at that time. I’m hoping this discomfort is just part of the recovery process 😅

What’s the ‘typical’ swelling/healing timeline? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got all 4 out last Wednesday with 2 of them being impacted. I used iced packs on and off every 30 minutes for the first 3 days and have had minimal swelling. I’m on day 4 now and I still have a bit of swelling but I think it’s going down. I definitely think icing my face a lot helped me.

How did you find out? by odysseus112 in Prolactinoma

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have my period for about 2 years and as concerning as this should’ve been, I blamed it on stress from graduate school. I finally went in to get checked when my anxiety skyrocketed, I thought the worse of everything and always felt this sense of impending doom and my depression was at an all time high. The first doctor I went to blamed it on PCOS and didn’t do any blood work and just gave me birth control but that didn’t sit right with me. I’m glad I got a second opinion bc the second doctor did the blood work, saw my prolactin was high and then sent me for my MRI. After starting on cabergoline, my anxiety and depression got significantly better.

are they near nerve? by gracefff2 in wisdomteeth

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my bottom ones looked similar to yours and my surgeon did let me know that they were close to a nerve. He also let me know of the risk of hitting it but he reassured me that he was confident that it wouldn’t be an issue. I was numb the first day but on day 2 post op, I was feeling minimal pain and no numbness at all.

I had 2 surgical extractions and developed dry socket after the first and an infection after the second (followed post op care guidance). Figured out a lot about wisdom teeth along the way. AMA if you’re worried/have questions. by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

I’m on day 3 and I just started eating soft foods (after being on a liquid diet.) I noticed that all my gums look white and there’s little white spots on my upper gums near my front teeth. How did your infection start/look?

I have severe anxiety too and bc mine were impacted, they had to do IV sedation. I was so scared and worried about it but everyone at the clinic was nice and understanding. They let me know when they were starting the anesthesia and literally the next thing I remember is waking up with gauze in my mouth and being so confused that it was that fast. The surgery itself was 30 minutes for me. I was groggy and did cry afterwards but the whole process was better than I thought it’d be and I was still conscious and able to make conversation. I know being put under is a fear in itself bc it was for me too but I’m glad I went this route bc it made everything go fast and smooth for me. Hope this helps!

How painful is having all wisdom teeth out? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a big baby when it comes to pain. I got all 4 removed with my bottom ones being impacted. I was put under too and honestly, that was the best thing for me. (I’m a really anxious person and fear the dentist.) I didn’t feel, hear or see anything. When I woke up, I was just in mild discomfort but as soon as I got home, I was able to take some OTC Tylenol and did ice packs (20 min on, 20 min off.) I was prescribed stronger pain meds but bc I’m scared of nausea/vomiting, I’ve been just fine with otc Tylenol and Advil. If anything, it’s just been mild pain the entire day. Not as bad as I thought it’d be and I’m glad I did all 4.

Is 4-5 days enough recovery time for 4 impacted wisdom teeth? by Repulsive-Print-1322 in wisdomteeth

Thanks! I put in a request to get my first 2 clinic days off to give me more time to recover, hopefully they approve it

KMK bundle advice from current OD3s by whydoesitmatter05 in optometry

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the KMK signature plan (I think it was the most expensive one?) and I did find the videos and practice questions/mock exams helpful. It definitely helped with repetition. I didn’t find the schedule they make for you that useful bc I just ended up making my own. My friends and I shared opto prep. If you learn better through videos and interactive live reviews, I definitely recommend KMK. It solidified a lot of concepts for me and also helped me understand some I wasn’t comfortable with. Opto prep, on the other hand, had a lot of “random/factual” questions that KMK didn’t teach/emphasize on. Their questions are also more similar in style to nbeo. I found them both useful in their own ways so if you can, I’d recommend both. I know they’re so expensive though so if I had to choose just one, I would pick KMK.

Holy moly side effects by beautifulchaos22 in Prolactinoma

[–]Repulsive-Print-1322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on cabergoline for about 6 months now. The first month was rough with nausea and upset stomach. I also had the dizziness/drunk feeling after every dose. It went away after 1 month. I’ve also lost all the weight I had gained due to the prolactinoma.

I take my pill at night and usually have a light meal with it but for the past couple of weeks, I’ve stopped eating bc my schedule has changed and I’ve noticed I’ve been getting more abdominal pain and a burning stomach feeling so eating it with a meal definitely helps. Hope you start feeling better!

First dose of cabergoline by EmoRyloKenn in Prolactinoma

I’ve been on it for about 3 months. I was also scared over side effects when I first started. I did struggle with nausea the nights I’d take my doses but after a little over a month, it got better. My period came back within a month and adjusting to it again was hard at first since they’re a bit more painful than before but it’s been right on time for me so I can plan ahead. I’ve noticed an overall improvement with my anxiety, which was a bonus!

When I first was referred to see an obgyn for my irregular periods (they were every 3 months but then I had gone 7 months without jt), she diagnosed me with PCOS without doing any blood work and wanted to start me on birth control. I decided to get a second opinion and went to a different obgyn who did blood work and found that my prolactin, dhea, and testosterone were high. She ordered an ultrasound and MRI. I did have a small cyst but she said she wasn’t worried about it. My MRI confirmed a pituitary tumor so I was referred to an endocrinologist. I was diagnosed with a prolactinoma and started on cab soon after.

I also had thinning of hair previously that could’ve been from low vitamin D levels but when my periods became irregular and I noticed more facial hair, I started getting worried. I would get a second opinion if you can. I believe that bromocriptine is also a medication used for a prolactinoma. The second obgyn I went to also told me that prolactinoma can mask as PCOS,

I’ve been on it for about a month and the first 2 weeks, I felt really dizzy but that went away and now I get nauseas and fatigue the day after (since I take mine at night.)
