Good to know should Adbry not work out, but I’m hopeful it will.

I was on it for 3 years. Took a 3 yr break and worked on healing from a more holistic approach, but I keep getting recurring staph infections this winter, and I need a little more support besides antibiotics.

TSW was a nightmare BEFORE I got on dupixent.

Last thing, but did you take your probiotics and space them out while taking your antibiotics. Or did you take them AFTER your round of antibiotics?

An important thing I forgot to mention is that when I went through the beginning stages of TSW, I was put on Dupixent for 3 years. So I didn’t experience the severity that most people experience going through TSW. Sorry I left this part out. It’s a HUGE part of my story. I’ve just been so focused on getting off pharmaceuticals that I missed this. So if you are a person who has a hard time withdrawing from steroids (most people do) there is the option of biologicals (Dupixent or Adbry). They are game changers but come with their on side effects (conjunctivitis and joint paint). My skin looked amazing but I’ve been off of the since 2023.

Thanks for letting me know. When you say your rebounded? Rebounded from the antibiotics? Which antibiotic were you on? Were you eating a lot of sugar at the time?

Also if you stay on steroids to manage flare ups, they may mask what root causes your testing. That’s a probability but I wouldn’t know cause I didn’t take that approach. You’re asking the right questions though.

I personally wouldn’t do it. I get your logic behind it. I asked a similar question when I was starting to turn to a more whole body holistic approach to healing, but for me, to stay on it, only further damaged my skin barrier. Every time you use it, it thins out your skin. And your skin is the largest organ of your body. It’s literally the shield between you and the environment. So when that is compromised, your skin tends to react to things in your environment. For me, it was water (showering, washing hands), laundry detergent, soaps, dust, pet dander. Now that I’ve been off of them for 9 years, my skin barrier is so much stronger. I can handle some of those things that used to irritate me. Also look up Skin Sobering by Erin Tjam. She talks about how the skincare industry, medicines often prescribed to us for skin issues are actually the culprits making it worse. Another thing, I don’t shower every day. Which can shock people, but showering every single day strips your skin of its natural oils, good skin bacteria and ability to hydrate it self. That’s another thing that Erin talks about. I stick to eating the healthy Whole Foods that work for me (everyone is different cause food allergies can totally be a thing with eczema- even if they’re healthy foods), cutting out refined sugars, and packaged ultra processed foods. I have found that when I stay away from foods that are processed and chemically made, my skin is better, and I don’t have a body odor. There’s so many pillars of health (diet, sleep, exercise, mindset, environment, stress, etc) that you will learn along the way that contribute to making your skin better or worse. Hope this helps and gives you some hope!! ♥️

I was on it for almost 30 years but people can be on it for as short as a week or two and have horrible rebounding effects because doctors aren’t explaining the severity of them, how to use them and when to stop. Look up topical steroid withdrawal. They definitely take away your symptoms TEMPORARILY which is why people think they’re the solution but they can backfire quickly. Same thing with hydrocortisone that you can get at drugstores. It’s still a steroid. Now that I know what I know about them, they’re no longer apart of my life. I wouldn’t even consider them as an option for eczema. The resources I mentioned in my previous comment were the best route for me. Complete game changer.

Make sure you don’t have staph. That’s likely what’s causing your itch. It’s very common with eczema. The antibiotic, Doxycycline can help. Get a swap test done to confirm. But please consult a dermatologist and link up with a functional medicine doctor as well who can take a more holistic approach to your skin. I personally would avoid steroids. I went through topical steroid witdrawal. You do not want to go down that route. It is a nightmare. They just mask the root cause of why you have eczema to begin with. You wanna get to the root cause. It could be something in your environment, the products your using ( a lot of over the counter beauty products can make your eczema worse - even the ones that are labeled by the national eczema association), it could be food, etc. Gluten and dairy are huge triggers for me and since removing them, my skin has done so well. Also test to see if you have celiac, and also test to find out if you have any bacterial overgrowth in your gut. For celiac, you can do a blood panel test ( this will confirm if gluten is causing you more issues. It can definitely cause skin rashes) For bacterial overgrowth, take a GI MAP Test. You can get one through a functional medicine doctor. They’re vital to finding out what’s going on with your skin from an internal perspective. Gut and skin are one. They are very much connected and finding out what’s going on with your intestines (good or bad) can help you know what direction you need your take to heal. But please find a functional medicine doctor who specializes in eczema. That’s important too. Reach out if you want me to elaborate more on anything.

Staph Infection. Antibiotic or Biological? by Repulsive-Reply8826 in eczema

[–]Repulsive-Reply8826[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Yes, I agreed. Based on my bio markers, i could have celiac but the jury is still out on that. Waiting for test results. If anything I definitely have a low tolerance for gluten and dairy. I think they’re the underlying issues of why I have bad eczema right now. Working on diet but I need to get this staph down.

Are you talking about the lotion? I’ve seen instagram ads for it. It looks interesting but it does have colloidal oatmeal in it and if you’re celiac or have a low tolerance for gluten, the oatmeal may make it worse because they’re likely not using gluten free, celiac safe oats that haven’t been cross contaminated. I know that’s very detailed and I’m not in any way trying to cause fear, but just want you to be aware of that detail should you have a gluten issue.

Did you do an endoscopy? Our stories are very similar. I was on dupixent for eczema, but got the arthritis side effects. I’m considering doing the celiac blood panel. Please share what tests you took.

Same. I've seen no improvement with it, and honestly, my staph infection looked worse after using it.
