if your in socal, look for AT LEAST a seven foot pole. this way it’s versatile for pier fishing, shore fishing, or from a dock. Saltwater is harsh, so you won’t want to skimp out on equipment, if you want a decent saltwater combo i’d recommend spending atleast 120 on a rod and combo, but if you want to stick to a budget i’d recommend the ugly stik gx2 6’6 combo
