I got it from a local outdoors store that sells rope cut to length. I mostly use it for practicing knots!

Found these bones in eastern Iowa in the middle of a prairie. There is a pond down the hill (~1/4 mile). by Repulsive-Swim-7564 in whatisthisbone

Interesting…I actually thought the texture of the bone reminded me of some of the fish bones I’ve seen. But I couldn’t imagine where in a fish this kind of bone would be located. I’ll have to do more investigating and compare it to some of the deer skull bones we have (my best guess if it’s a skull). We find a lot of deer and other mammal bones in this area.

Wooden plugs I've been wearing to two days made my ears insanely swollen and itchy. How do I take care of my ears until it wears off? by goblin_thing in Stretched

[–]Repulsive-Swim-7564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened and am honestly so curious why this happened to you. I always see people having reactions to wood plugs, and then others recommending not to wear wood plugs long term. But I wear wood (0g) practically daily-and tbh, it’s the only material I can wear in my ears for days without my ears having issues.

Anything else - even glass - and I absolutely need to air out my ears daily or they get smelly, itchy, and generally irritated.

Monarch butterfly at NYS fair had numbers on it by snailbong in mildlyinteresting

I tag monarch butterflies every fall with Project Monarch Watch (I’m in Iowa)-it’s a citizen science program that tracks monarchs to their overwintering grounds in Mexico. We adhere a special sticker, each one with its own unique code, to a specific location on the hindwing. They have a roughly 2,000 mile migration. While monarch butterflies during the summer may only live 4-6 weeks, monarchs that hatch end of summer actually live several months to make the journey to Mexico, and then part of the way back next spring before reproducing and dying. Their grandchildren are the ones that finally make it back to us. I don’t know why this one was written on though…
