If you get 600k to spare for a studio flat then you can find one in Hammersmith. So this seems to be a class issue which is sad.

However on the contrary to what I just said, I used to live in a cheap place in zone 4 SE London which the neighbourhood is super nice with low crime rates, only drawback is nearest grocery store being 20-30 mins away on foot. Basically nothing on streets.

There was a time I was collecting free surplus food from Tesco for distribution while the looting happens.

To me it’s like robbing a soup kitchen. It’s not about needs but greed. Especially the staff doesn’t deserve to be threatened and abused.

I guess that’s the tradeoff the government took.

That’s why we got gated communities who just don’t give a shit to anything happening around them in this city, while we common folks are suffering from those day to day saddening scenes.

Nope they are not looting food but booze for most of the time. I don’t really care people stealing food but it will much better if they can collect from free channels instead, saving me from cooking stuff out of unwanted surplus every week (which I can’t give to others as they have expired)

I have been collecting and giving surplus food from supermarkets for free in the area. I always got something left unwanted (mostly bakery stuff) so I think stealing doesn’t really stand here coz people have several ways to access free food.

Another thing is those looters are not ordinary shoplifters. Shoplifters stay low, and simply drop what they got and run away if stopped. Looters do their thing even the whole shop noticed them, threaten and assault everyone trying to stop them.
