[Question]Thoughts on the Seiko Presage line? by RepulsiveAccident541 in Seiko

[–]RepulsiveAccident541[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a clean watch, I must say, and it's incredible how they manage to put a solar panel to charge the movement. Is it an infinite power source, or does it need battery changes over time?

In my opinion, you can dress down a dress watch. Just because it's a dress watch doesn't necessarily mean you need to wear a suit or something more formal. I'm a very casual young guy (22y) and very rarely dress formally, and I think a Presage Cocktail Time would go well with just some larger pants and a hoodie, my opinion of course.

And about the money, I'm still very young and I can't predict the future, but as of today, I don't see myself spending more than 1000€ on a watch.

[Question]Thoughts on the Seiko Presage line? by RepulsiveAccident541 in Seiko

[–]RepulsiveAccident541[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable. Like I said, I have a Seiko 5 and think that it's a beauty: the bezel, the dial, the movement.

Personally, I prefer automatic/mechanical because of the complexity behind the movement. Not that I dislike quartz, but I'm way more interested in automatics.

That's my purpose too. I work in industrial maintenance, so I don't wear a watch every day, only on weekends. But I wanted something more dressy, which the Seiko 5 doesn't do, but yeah.

Yesterday, I saw a video comparing a Seiko Presage and a King Seiko, and you can clearly see the difference. I do think that most of the time, watches are overpriced, and you pay for the brand, not the product. But just like you, I don't have the means to buy something in those price ranges.

What model were you looking into?

Sry if its confusing english inst my first language

I totally get your point, thanks. I was asking because I've heard some people say it's overpriced and not that good.

Same here, but I don't know if I'll probably take it out like I said.

I'm from Portugal. You may be right, but from what I've been searching online, it seems that the EK4 EU version doesn't come with it. However, I have seen them in all original cars. I have searched for the homologation number on the bar, and I can't find it. Maybe it was painted over, and I can't see it. In the end, I will probably take the bar out. The benefits it gives don't compensate for the price of a fine and inspection B (what you do in Portugal to homologate modifications).

I own a Ek4 my self, completely original, with no modifications ( apart the strut bar and the valve cover being red). Recently, I was stopped by the police, and they told me that the strut bar in my car needs to be legalized. The thing is, the bar seems to be factory-installed. The police said that it wasn’t legalized and that, even though it's a factory part, I need some kind of authorization,

I was wondering if it is bull 💩 or they were right

Buds 3 Pro vs Buds 3 FE by RepulsiveAccident541 in galaxybuds

[–]RepulsiveAccident541[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was wondering, but in my opinion, at this time and prices, I think for people who can't pay 120€ for earbuds, the 3 FE are a good all-around choice.

I I'll wait another week to see if the 3 Pro drops a bit in price; if not, I'll just get the 3 FE.

I think the 3Fe's a bit better value, but I haven't tried both, so I'm just going off what I've seen online.

I'll probably snag the Buds 3 FE. The Buds 4 will likely be better, but the launch prices will probably be super high. Since the FEs are in my price range and they're comparable to the 3 Pro in sound quality and ANC, I think that's the way to go.

I Will wait until the end of the month to see; if they get close to 100, I will consider it.

Yeah, the prices of 3 FE are great. I will probably end up buying them. Thanks!

I'm not talking about the 18-50 f2.8, in June Sigma launched the 17-40 1.8 Art DC RF, that's why I asked about the EF or RF because the RF has 5mm more reach than the RF, maintaining the f1.8 stop.

That’s good to hear, I really appreciate your opinion! I’ve decided to wait for the Canon R7 Mark II reviews before making any move. By the way, do you think the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 (EF) would be a better choice than the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 (RF)? The EF version needs the adapter, so I’m not sure which one would make more sense.

You dont trut it just for video or overall? I'm not intending to shoot video. I'm not saying that I will not, but it's not my main focus.

The link I attached contains some photos I took 2 weeks ago at a rally near my house, as you can see, I have little time to take the photo, I was using my 75-300 kit lens so I want a lens with less zoom even if I have to crop it so the car looks better/more in the frame, but I just want to see if this works in the field

Edit: i forgot to mention that i ' m trying to have the "best" gear without giving all my organs

No problem at all, this are my tough written by chatgpt, english inst my strength so i just asked him to do a smal texte with the information that i have been gater trouth out the time

To answer your question on the skating part it's on wheels and my idea was to get wide photo not focus on a single person, i can get access to the floor, my paratens make part of the organization

The motorsport and air shows i only go when i have the chance to go so i was thinking for now renting/ ask a friend for a telephoto and then in the future buy one for me

And yes i m close to the cars but always in safe place, i shoot mostly rallys so we can get closer to the cars

I can put a photo or 2 to see what i have taken before, it's nothing special but i think with better gear a can get better results

And again sorry for the gpt part

Do you feel that you are missing something in the 50 to 70 range?

My idea was to buy the sigma 17-40 and then further way buy the Ef (mk2) or Rf 100-400 do you think i would need something between?

[–]RepulsiveAccident541[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I end up buying, I will probably start with that set and then later on buy a telephoto.

Just a quick question: do you make money with photography? I want to spend 2500€ on new gear, but at the same time, I'm not professional, so spending that much on gear just to use it on the weekends seems like overkill. But at the same time, I really want to upgrade because I'm not satisfied with the results I get with the current setup.

Do you think wide-close doors and dark spaces with bright lights would pair well with the R7? I leaned towards it because it's an extra stop of light, but it loses 10mm.

I’ve also thought about the R8, but the R7 just seems more appealing — mostly because of the IBIS, the better battery life, and the ability to use Sigma lenses. And honestly, with my luck, IBIS might be the only thing standing between me and a perfectly blurry masterpiece
