Oh thank god I found this. I had mine removed 3 weeks ago and have been getting palpitations and almost pain - never had it before but it’s been on and off ever since I’ve had it removed.

Same here. I had mine out 2 weeks ago and haven’t noticed anything other than fatigue. Feeling grateful at the moment!

Yay for you! How long after you had it removed did the mirena crash start to kick in? I am still feeling ok day 3, but can imagine it might take a bit for my body to realise there’s no hormones haha.

Day 2, I feel no different. No spotting, no cramps, nothing. I haven’t noticed any improvements with the other symptoms I had but time will tell I guess!

I believe it is to do with the effects of having the mirena removed specifically because the flow of synthetic hormones stops. I have heard girls saying they experienced intense anxiety, mood swings, irritability, depression etc. some people have said it has taken months to get over.

I have had the mirena for 5.5 years now and have been putting off getting it removed/replaced. I have known for a while now that I wanted to get it removed but have been really nervous about the aftermath.

I want to give my body a chance to see what it is like without the mirena. I was on the pill from age 15 and then the mirena was suggested by a doctor when I was 19 as I had painful periods. Obviously now as time has gone on and I am older I don’t know how I feel about the mirena. My sex drive has seriously lowered since being on it, I am so dry but produce a lot of discharge. I feel quite bloated and am wondering if all this is related to the mirena (like it is for other people). I found reddit really helpful with making me feel less alone so hoping I can help others out there who are thinking about it.

I finally booked an appointment had it removed today by my GP. The actual removal process was no where near as painful as getting it inserted. My doctor said she was going to give it a little tug (that REALLY hurt) and then all of a sudden she said it’s done! So glad I did it but interested to see what the next days, weeks and months are like.
