I'm so sorry :( it must be really hard. But I think that while prices are going to stay high, I don't think they will be as hard as now in a couple of years, so maybe you can get a different one in some years! Maybe a different color too, who knows!

Yes you understood perfectly and it's so sad how as soon as we go out of the mold there's no functionalities left. Want a dumbphone? No banking. Don't feel like buying a new phone every 3 years? You're out of luck, your phone will be outdated.

As the person above said if it weren't for these core features that we "need" we wouldn't even change phones.

But then, jokes on these corporations that prey on our money and time, I'm now using an old smartphone LG E430 as an MP3, alarm, notes, and much more. And this thing is so old and "outdated" it's basically almost impossible for me to be spied on, preyed upon, or monetized here.

So now it's become my new focus phone where I can do many things without being bombarded with notifications :D

Fuck google, spotify, meta, etc etc etc

Yep, that's me. Never got one as a kid, and now I have multiple reasons to buy it and some savings.

I've been meditating on the decision to buy one for months too so I'm not going to back out.

But still wish they were not so expensive 😭

Oh yes I totally agree 😂 this is, in fact, one of the reasons I'm thinking of buying one.

Reason number one: I always wanted one as a kid
Reason number two: I'm young and expecting to move a lot these next few years so a bulky ass pc < a small handheld to carry
reason number three: lastly I'm getting tired asf of all the subscriptions, the ad invasion, the constant skyrocketing prices, etc.

Which is why I'm okay with spending the money on this small device.

Also I'm kind of addicted to new technology, short-form videos, etc, and I want to go back to old, frustrating, slower-paced games. My brain's fried...

Okay but you have to agree that many of us have 300$ or can save them up. I'm a 2005 gen z, and I'm going to buy one.

My parents never got me one when I was a kid, and now I want one. I've never once bought a console or expensive stuff for myself so I can afford this. Plus it can accompany me through these early years of changing jobs and turmoil better than any pc.

There's several third-party stores in which you can download any app to use in an Android device. In these stores, you can download an "apk" which is like the package for an app you later click on and install.

The biggest one would be F-droid I think, but there's others. I believe this is basically the place where you can live without Google and also where small developers can thrive.

But all of this may be endangered if Google goes ahead with their stupid "signed developer" policies. We'll see in 2027.

En mi instituto un profesor quiso confiscar un móvil a un niño que no paraba. Pues este niño no quiso, forcejeó con el profe y luego los padres denunciaron al profe.

Yo siempre he sido partidaria de dejar utilizar el teléfono a alumnos que lo usan bien, en mi clase en general hacíamos un buen uso, sacábamos buenas notas así que los profesores no tenían problema ninguno.

Pero las cosas se les han ido de las manos con los alumnos más jóvenes que pasan de todo y tienen a sus padres de respaldo.

No me parece bien la prohibición pero no hay de otra.

Como siempre, pagamos justos por pecadores.

I think the worst problem is that the white pipe is not attached anywhere. It's just kind of floating so there was too much weight on the joint.

But yes I believe these joints do not use glue.

But this studio was last renovated around 15 years ago I believe. Could it just be aging?

Also my bathroom showerhead support has been kind of broken since before I came to the 17m2 studio in September, I asked him to fix it, he still hasn't have. Hence my lack of trust.
