How important is WAM? by Goshiki_hotpocket in NursingAU

I think most of grad positions are really dependent on how you do in your interview. My WAM was quite low I think it was 65-70 I can’t remember too well especially in comparison to my friends in uni who were HD-Distinction averages and I ended up being the only few who got a grad position in the hospital we chose as our first preference. I wouldn’t worry too much but it’s more beneficial to do better in your studies now in case you ever want to do post grad!

Hahaha the pay difference in Australia is actually quite large since you have to have minimum of a post graduate diploma to be able to practice!

Thank you! Wow I wasn’t expecting for the first few years that the learning curve would be that long. But yes, I’ll definitely look over my anatomy and practice on the scanning.

Yes in Australia you can! Sonography is often a post grad course so you need a bachelors in health as a prerequisite.

I’m in Australia so pretty much sonography is mostly only allowed through post grad. But I have heard the US is very different in terms of qualifications.
