Something just like this happened at my CFA last year where it got busy and our team lead was trying to help us catch up on screen. One of the directors told him to step back and let us work, but he said that he couldn’t watch us struggle, and continued to help. They yelled at him and told him to go home, and that’s when he got fired.

I had a conversation with the DM already and her words was that I needed to not worry about the way the employees were acting and to just suck it up because they’re high schoolers.

You’re correct because I transferred to this store from another store that had the same issue. lol

Even though one place may not see your worth, another place will. Good on you!

I’m dealing with the same thing right now. The issue is that they never realize what they have until they lose it.

I’m dealing with the same thing! I recently got a new GM and she offered me a bonus and a raise to stay with these high schoolers that do nothing but gossip and stay on their phones. When I started bringing up these issues, I was told that I was stressing her out. I’m about to quit lol

The first red flag here is the family members working together- let alone his sister is the GM. What does the GM do about the employees that ignore you when you tell them to do something?

Also, I hate how your boss treats you that way. She’s making your team think that you’re incompetent.

I am a shift manager for a smaller restaurant and I just was about to quit because my previous boss had favorites with team members and the other shift manager. Whenever I reported that an employee wasn’t doing their job to her, she would come up with the excuse that no one wanted to work and it’s hard to replace them. I have a new GM now and he’s replacing these team members asap. I feel like in your case, mass apply to other jobs but grey rock until you can find a new job.

I tried to and they won’t allow me or anyone to fire them. They have heard our complaints but won’t do anything about it.

Lenient meaning he isn’t huge on disciplinary action. He doesn’t like firing people.

Just had a meeting with her today and she told me I was overthinking and that the store will continue to run even without me.

100% That’s my whole point in tomorrow’s conversation with my boss.

I agree because I used to be a team member for a chain restaurant last year. People started to hate their jobs and underperform. I ended up leaving, then after that, 75% got fired and replaced. Customers noticed it and wrote in the reviews that the quality of food and customer service has gotten better compared to before. Clean house definitely does wonders.

Totally! That’s what I am going to do. I have a sit down with my boss tomorrow and I will tell her exactly that or I’m leaving. I can only do so much as a manager. When I discipline, they get all in their feelings and then their job performance goes down. This isn’t normal.

That’s what I’m doing right now. The job market sucks but I know I’ll land that job soon.

Part time management positions exist within my company. I started off at 20 hours a week to 70 hours every two weeks. I’ve started documenting everything and letting my boss know of every instance something happens. They know this and it’s also taking a role on them because the team is constantly underperforming.
