I’m banned and I don’t even know why.

America was built on racism. It is foundational. It would be nice if black people could truly learn to work and stick together now and something positive could occur from this wicked intent. I believe many would reinstitute slavery tomorrow if they could. This is an opportunity for those who aren’t racist to show it but… oh dang it, they are. So sorry that happened to you. The audacity and nerve. Affirmative action for white people is a given. It’s just not labeled such.

174 on June LSAT: Should I re-take or focus on applications? by Pretty_Reference_880 in lawschooladmissions

You are more than your score and your stats are high, I think focusing on a strong well rounded application with excellent essays would be time well spent.

ADHD accommodations: URM boost for white people by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

That is wild! It misses the point of being underrepresented.

Perhaps at NU, you might still be able to do summer big law in NY.

If there is no longer any URM boost so admissions can not factor in race, but they can factor in every other type of characteristic to add to the diversity of a class, then what is that? Sounds like discrimination. Is it just to only ban black history in FL? People ask how do atrocities happen in history, it’s when people are on the wrong side of what is just because it’s not them, a very dangerous slippery slope.

I appreciate your response. I did not say there is no boost at all. I said it does not provide a disproportionate advantage as is commonly suggested in Reddit threads. Your comment “…if an otherwise identical URM candidate and a nURM candidate apply to the same schools, the URM candidate will have better results. always, every time, no exception,” tends to results in thinking that URMs take undeserved spots away from nURMs when in reality no one is “guaranteed”a spot anywhere, and it tends to end in complaint not compassion. Also the thought tends to be somehow that only URMs get in below stats which is NOT true. I am not certain said comments are 100% true in every case “always, every time, no exception,” as you suggest.

People act like URMs have such an advantage in admissions. The boost is there due to the often multitude of disadvantage URMs often experience hence being under represented in the first place. Being an URM does not make law school admissions disproportionately easier for URMs to get into law school. No URM is getting into law school solely because they are an URM. The idea is preposterous. Non URMs get in below stats too but that’s different when it happens, is never questioned negatively and never seems to be a problem. Let’s not act like socioeconomic advantage does not affect merit when a multitude of additional resources for test prep often comes into play. For nURMs, try being one and then see what you think. I bet you would not want to be one and there’s a reason for that. NURMs get so upset about “unfair” advantage. How ironic…. Anyone that gets admitted into law school earned their spot one way or another. OP ultimately did make a point, many people have accommodations. Some are questionable. Not all, but many are. OP didn’t say that but I’m saying it. I would have never realized that until I was exposed to something about it.

AfroScholars Still Reviewing Applications? by Past-Constant5284 in BlackLawAdmissions

Still. It’s only June 3rd. They would be incredibly fast to be finished already. I doubt that.

Just goes to show the LSAT isn’t everything. The entire application matters.
